Centerless Grinder Operator

Centerless Grinding Operator will grind surfaces of swaged or drawn rod, wire to specified dimensions or surface conditions.

Monday - Friday 3pm to 11pm

Friday - Sunday 5am to 5pm - work 36 hours, paid for 40

Essential Job Functions:*

• Removes proper material from storage rack to use in production
• Sets grinding and regulating wheels to proper positions
• Inserts rod or wire into machine and adjusts machine as required to obtain required dimensions
• Checks finished stock to ensure required size
• Ties lot or bundle, weighs each and delivers to the next operation
• Notes weight and lot data as required to assure proper data collection
• Inspects rod to assure quality
• Signs off on grinding work orders
• Ensures the proper coolant fluid level is maintained in machines, when necessary notifies Machinist/Maintenance for service and preventive maintenance
• Will affect servicing operations of blade refacing and wheel adjustment or dressing as required
• Keeps work area neat and orderly
• Follows all company safety policies and procedures and reports all accidents, hazards and equipment problems
• Performs other duties as required

Skills/Experience/Training Preferred:

• Knowledge of and ability to perform basic math functions
• Ability to read and understand work orders and blue prints
• Ability to use basic hand measuring tools
• Basic computer proficiency, including documentation data entry and report generation
• Good oral and written communication skills

Working Conditions/Physical Demands:

• Must be able to lift and maneuver up to fifty (50) pounds
• Routinely operates/uses equipment, machines, and tools requiring hand-eye coordination and finger dexterity
• Routinely communicates face-to-face
• Routinely performs duties in production floor environment
• Must be able to reach overhead and below the knees including bending, twisting, pulling and stopping
• Must be able to stand, sit or walk for extended periods of time or for an entire work shift
• Must be able to wear protective gear
