Quoting Specialist

Have you spent part of your career in or around machine shops as a CNC and/or manual machinist? We are looking for a smart and reliable quoter who has the ability to comprehend and develop complex detailed drawings, and quotes, along with a mechanically inclined mindset.

SUMMARY: The Quoting Specialist is responsible for preparing quotations and coordinating technical support when required. They will also be required to support project work and price negotiation, identify and articulate customer requirements in conjunction with the customer, and support management and technical staff regarding product cost capabilities and shipping times. The Quoting Specialist should have an excellent understanding of manufacturing and machining practices, with a proficiency in interpreting blueprint specifications. They will demonstrate an eagerness to maintain effective relationships with customers to discuss proposed quotes, details, and timelines.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The Quoting Specialist must demonstrate competence in the following areas.

• Estimates/quotes from customer prints or reverse engineering.
• Carefully determines customer requirements on Request for Quotation (RFQs), drawings, specifications, quality requirements, and bills of material.
• Reads and interprets drawings, both proprietary and customer supplied.
• Works with customers to provide quotations for requested jobs in a timely manner.
• Forwards technical support issues to the appropriate team.
• Provides pricing of repair parts when needed.
• Works with supply vendors.
• Performs project management of work orders.
• Provides status of all projects visually at their workstation.
• Assist with reviewing parts.
• Participates in continuous improvement initiatives including but not limited to Lean. 
• Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned at the supervisor’s discretion.

EDUCATION/JOB EXPERIENCE:

• A minimum of 5 years prior experience in a machine/fabrication shop environment or a strong machining, welding, or fabricating background is required.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to speak effectively with customers or employees of the organization.
• Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.   
• Ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, along with a general knowledge of computer operations.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to complete written, oral, or diagram instructions.  
• Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
