Elwyn runs 5 Before and After School Programs in the Haverford School District and has roles open in each one right now. Specific locations can be discussed during an interview. Positions can be offered for Mornings, Afternoons OR Both Morning & Afternoon
Locations include: Manoa, Chestnutwold, Lynnewood, Chatham Park and Coopertown
POSITION SUMMARY: The Aide assists the Lead Teacher in implementing classroom activities. This role prepares materials, supervises activities, and ensures that the school-based childcare program runs smoothly by providing supervision to elementary-aged children participating in the program
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist Lead Teacher and Assistant Teacher with creating and constructing learning games and clubs
Assist in preparation of materials needed for each day's activities
Supervise one or more center activities as directed
Under the direction of the Lead Teacher, conduct small group games and movement activities planned with and approved by the Lead Teacher
Assist children in packing up to go home and confirm that each child has their take-home project(s) including, but not limited to, art projects, note(s) from Lead teacher, and school notices
Supervise children on the playground and with bathroom routines
Step in for Assistant Teacher in an emergency
Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), first aid, and crisis intervention using agency-trained protocols
Perform other duties as assigned
IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Lead Teacher
CONTACTS: School-based childcare staff, parents/guardians, school personnel
DIRECT REPORTS: None
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:High School diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
Two (2) years' experience working with children in a childcare setting
Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team
Demonstrated strong attention to detail
Demonstrated excellent judgment with the ability to solve problems and make decisions in collaboration with colleagues and supervisor
Demonstrated ability to anticipate future needed changes or identify problem areas and take effective actions
Must be able to perform CPR, first aid, and crisis intervention using agency-trained protocols
Must possess excellent customer interaction, collaboration, presentation, and written and verbal communication skills
Demonstrated basic experience with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint; Publisher experience preferred
Must have current, valid driver's license in state of residence, three (3) years driving experience in the United States, and acceptable driving record
