Position Summary
The Director of Human Resources will report to the company’s CEO and will be responsible for developing and implementing Human Resources policies and programs. This position is a key member of the management team and is responsible for helping to drive company culture, strengthening values, establishing policies and procedures, maintaining compliance, and reinforcing the behaviors needed to support the company’s strategy, objectives, and activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborates with senior leadership to understand and execute the organization’s goals and strategy related to staffing, recruiting, retention, development and succession planning.
Plans, leads, develops, coordinates, and implements policies, processes, training, initiatives, and surveys to support the organization’s human resource compliance and strategy needs.
Work closely with management and employees to improve teamwork/communication, build morale, and increase productivity, engagement and retention.
Provide HR policy guidance, interpretation and coaching.
Manage and resolve complex employee relations issues-conduct effective, thorough and objective investigations for resolution of employee issues.
Makes recommendations, implements and administers competitive pay and incentive compensation programs; including the counseling of management on pay decisions, compensation practices, and policy and guideline interpretation. Oversees the collection and analysis of competitive salary information to determine company’s market relationship and to ensure external equity.
Directs the administration of the company’s benefit plans, included but not limited to health and welfare benefits, retirement benefits, and time off plans.
Manages the talent acquisition and recruitment processes
Monitors and ensures the organizations compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews and modifies policies and practices to maintain compliance.
Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law; applies this knowledge to communicate changes in policy, practice, and resources to management.
Maintains and reports data related to headcount, turnover rates, recruitment metrics and other ad-hoc qualitative and quantitative analyses for management.
- Develops and implements departmental budget.
Facilitates professional development, training, and certification activities for HR staff.
Performs other duties as required.
Required Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in human resource management or business management and development, HRCI certification a plus
- 10 years progressive Human Resources generalist experience.
- Comprehensive HR experience, including a complete understanding of and hands-on exposure to the full mix of HR functions (preferably in a manufacturing environment).
- A track record of positive results and an ability to provide demonstrated examples of programs and policies that have contributed to the growth and bottom-line profitability of an organization while enhancing or driving cultural change.
- Should be someone who is sought out for their opinion and advice and who can forge and maintain close relationships across all constituencies.
- Self-motivated; bias for action.
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiating and conflict resolution skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
