What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Coordinator position at Embe?
SUMMARY: The person in this position is responsible for the overall maintenance of the EmBe facility. This includes care and maintenance of the buildings, vehicles, and grounds and maintaining building security. This position is a 40-hour-per-week position working daily at the EmBe South location. This person works cooperatively with other staff and volunteers. This person works in a team atmosphere of mutual respect and cooperation with all staff. Ensure EmBe brand, mission, vision, and values are reflected in all interactions.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Building Maintenance
- Perform regular preventive maintenance on all building systems including heating, air conditioning, fans and boilers. Troubleshoot and diagnose building maintenance issues.
- Check and maintain all motors, vents, heaters, fans, pumps, boilers, etc., and make or arrange for repairs as needed
- Maintain the interior of the facility: walls, carpet, gym floor, equipment, routine clean-up
- Order and maintain adequate and appropriate maintenance supplies and maintain chemical content files as required
- Provide general cleaning as may be necessary to keep the EmBe building clean and well maintained
Vehicle Maintenance
- Maintain agency vehicles to include but not limited to keeping them clean, regularly serviced.
- Perform routine safety checks.
- Keep maintenance logs as required.
- Schedule maintenance as required
Grounds Maintenance
- Maintain exterior grounds maintenance such as lawn landscaping and snow removal
- Winter: responsible for shoveling snow, removing ice and maintaining walks and entrances at EmBe South
- Spring/Summer/Fall: Maintain lawns, maintain walks and entrances; maintain parking lots; maintain building signage; maintain playground areas and fencing; keep grounds free from litter
- Maintain all maintenance equipment ensuring it is in good working condition. Winterize as needed
Building Security
- Perform walk throughs for safety and repair checks daily or as scheduled
- Oversee the general safety and security of the facility
Supervision
- Train, and supervise custodial staff as needed.
- Supervise the work of other building maintenance and repair vendors.
Cross Departmental Work
- Ability to work with youth and adult volunteers and EmBe staff.
- Assumes other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Previous maintenance experience required
- High school diploma or GED or related degree from technical institute
- Basic handyman skills and interests a must
- Skilled in the use of hand and power tools, mowers, snowblowers
- Good communication skills
- Valid drivers license
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Knowledge of boiler maintenance and operations
- Ability to work a varied schedule when required
- Support all company policies, decisions, direction, and purpose.
- A background check is a condition of employment.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Ability to lift minimum 50 pounds (trash and supplies); ability to push minimum 100 pounds (power cleaning appliances)

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed indoors and outdoors with regular exposure to cold, heat, noise, chemicals and moving machinery or equipment.
