Position Overview
The Quality Engineer proactively improves product quality through effective planning and reactively ensures effectively resolutions to issues as they arise. Provides support for Quality Management System to industry, customer and regulatory requirements. This position will provide technical assistant to all quality systems (ISO 9001, AS 9100 and Nadcap AC7108) while improve existing procedures and develop supporting procedures, work instructions, records, etc. in support of QMS.
Primary Responsibilities
Collect and analyze data to develop action plans that resolve issues related to actual versus planned performance
- Conduct periodic training sessions to keep personnel informed on procedures, methods, use of equipment and other quality/manufacturing techniques
- Lead quality improvement projects aimed at reducing scrap and rework reduction.
- Work closely with Sales, Customer Service, Production and Customers to resolve quality issues, improve product and process quality
- Assist with Advance Product Quality Planning (APQP), Boeing PIP’s:
Develop Quality Plans for new products - Identify and maintain key characteristics of parts
- Assess process capability
- Identify and develop outsourced process quality requirements
- Ensure FAI requirements are met and recorded on AS9102 of customer form as applicable
- Provide technical assistance and guidance to Manufacturing department for development of inspection methods, tooling and gauges
- Maintain corrective action process
- Maintain internal audit program and perform audits in support
- Host customer, regulatory or certification body audits of AMP QMS, NADCAP
- Maintained approved supplier list; assist with supplier rating and scorecards
- With Quality Manager, prepare documentation for management review
Education and Qualification Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline highly preferred. In lieu of engineering degree, ASQ certification required or relevant work experience.
- 5 years of quality/manufacturing experience required, preferably in an aerospace environment
- Previous processing, planning and/or manufacturing experience a plus
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Familiarity with safety requirements in a processing or manufacturing setting
- Basic knowledge and understanding of statistical process control, RCCA
- Solid background in measurement techniques
- Proficiency in interpretation of specifications and engineering drawings including geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) and ASME Y 14.5 requirements
- Must be able to communicate effectively with management, customers, suppliers and shop personnel
This position requires access to our export-controlled commodities, technical data, technology and services. These items are restricted under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) to US Citizens, Lawful Permanent Residents of the US and properly license foreign persons. Therefore, employment is contingent on compliance with ITAR regulations and successfully obtaining and maintaining the necessary export authorization license from the U.S. Department of Commerce's Bureau of Industry and Security, U.S. Department of State's Office of Defense Trade Controls, or other applicable government agency.
