Job Summary
We are looking for a qualified Lab Technician to undertake a variety of laboratory projects. You will be handling sensitive equipment, conducting tests, and reporting findings. The ideal candidate will be well-trained to maintain safety conditions and can succeed in producing reliable and important results that can be used to make a difference. This role will be based out of Westlake Village, CA or San Diego, CA.
Responsibilities:
- Build test setups, perform electrical, mechanical and thermal tests.
- Follow design of experiments methods, assembly and test instructions
- Document and report results
- Maintain a structured lab
- Track tests across different product lines and their iterations
- Calibration of test equipment and sensors
- Safety, cleanliness and compliance (materials and processes)
- Source parts and components, maintain necessary hardware inventory
- Practical and hands-on experience
- Machining, assembly, prototyping, 3D printing, soldering
- Test Equipment
- Data loggers
- Thermocouples
- Electronics (Oscilloscopes, DC power supplies ...)
- Instrumentation interface packages (e.g., Labview)
- Automation equipment (e.g., Python, Arduino)
- Working with prototypes and sensitive tech
- Maintain organized information of DUTs and tracking of DUTs in a dynamic database
- Lab maintenance as needed
Qualifications:
- Engineering background
- Proven experience as a lab technician – preferably with electrical components
- Experience in operating electrical and nonelectrical laboratory equipment and potentially dangerous substances
- Excellent communication skills – verbal and written
- Ability to work autonomously and with a team
- Trustworthy
- Highly skilled in excel – able to create and maintain excel test reports in an organized manner
- Some lab management experience is desired
- Must be able to work in the lab setting (this role is not remote or hybrid)
