To be a successful VP of Advancement you must become able to do the following always:

1. Ensure a trauma informed focus on creating a safe and supportive environment for staff and those served through knowledge, sensitivity, respect, and a focus on resilience and recovery.
2. Manage and implement assigned programs within Company’s comprehensive fundraising program (annual fund, major gifts, appeals, church relations, database integrity and reporting, staff management, planned giving, and capital initiatives).
3. Establish and maintain ongoing relationship with major gift donors, while actively working to establish new donors.
4. Act as a lead generator for the Company, specifically fund development but may include other departments as opportunities arise.
5. Facilitate relationship and aid in the research, preparation and securing grant funding from funding organizations.
6. Develop knowledge of trends and issues in child welfare.
7. Manage and implement assigned programs on behalf of the Company’s comprehensive marketing and fundraising programs to build and promote public awareness and engagement.
8. Develop working knowledge of development best practices, fundraising tools and strategies, donor database, direct mail, email and digital media, and prospect research.
9. Further the collaboration between the Development Department and Programs.
10. Be an active, contributing member of the Management Team.
11. Follow Company Policy and Procedure and operate according to the Company’s Program Practice Guidelines.
12. Meet department goals and advance within competencies.

• 65% Fundraising activities and initiatives
• 15% Team development, supervision, and reporting
• 10% Community outreach and engagement
• 5% Participation in supervision, committees, agency-wide and staff meetings.
• 5% Other duties as assigned
