Position Purpose
Maintains the credit union’s accounting records and reports, ensuring they are in compliance with generally accepted and financial practices.
Essential Functions and Basic Duties
- Reviews and verifies the accuracy of journal entries and accounting classifications assigned to various records. Develops, implements, modifies, and documents recordkeeping and accounting systems, making use of current computer technology.
- Performs administrative tasks within the accounting department including processing mail, posting accounting entries, and processing accounts payable invoices. Set up vendors, W9 administration and assist with 1099 preparation.
- Maintains files, including general ledger (GL) journal, accounts payable documentation, and other miscellaneous filings. Updated 07/23/2024
- Completes required records and reports and maintains files. Processes expense reports and reconciles corporate credit cards.
- Maintains regular contact with other departments to obtain information and/or to correct transactions.
- Keeps management informed of area activities and of any significant problems.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Performance Measurements
*Assigned accounts are current and in balance within prescribed time frames.
- Management reports are produced within prescribed time frames and with no unresolved errors.
- Month end activities, including journal entries, balancing accounts, and producing assigned financial statements are performed within prescribed time frames.
- Member and internal inquiries are researched and resolved in a timely and accurate manner.
- Management is informed of key operating issues affecting the department and the credit union.
Qualifications
Education/Certification:
- A bachelor’s degree or
- Combined work experience and achievement of formal certifications recognized in the industry.
Required Knowledge:
- 3-5 years of similar or related experience.
Skills/Abilities:
- Work involves personal contact with others inside and outside the organization for the purpose of first-level conflict resolution, building relationships and soliciting cooperations.
- Discussions involve a higher degree of confidentiality and discretion.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Working knowledge of economic and accounting principles and practices, the financial markets, credit unions and the analysis and reporting of financial data.
- Demonstrates carefulness about detail and thoroughness in completing work tasks
. * Knowledge of credit union software, Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.

Pay: $17.00 - $25.50 per hour
