Dual Diagnosis Counselor
The Dual Diagnosis Counselor is responsible for providing direct therapeutic services, group and individual, to dually diagnosed, justice involved individuals needing mental health competency restoration supports. It is essential to have thorough knowledge of substance use and mental health disorders, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and related evidenced based assessment tools and treatment. This role requires good judgement and flexibility in responding to crisis to follow up with supportive services to participants, provide focus and directed oversight, communication, and coordination. This is a 24/7 program and may require night and weekend coverage for the safety and well-being of all clients residing in the facility. Shifts may change to meet the requirements of daily operations. May be required to travel to attend limited meetings with contracting agencies.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Works collaboratively with the client to develop a comprehensive treatment plan that addresses priority needs of the client, an agreed upon plan of action, and desired treatment outcomes.
- Utilizes approved curriculum to facilitate weekly groups and/or provides individual treatment to residents.
- Conducts group and individual therapeutic interventions.
- Evaluates and reports progress and outcome of treatment services.
- Accurately completes clinical intakes, reports, assessments, service plans, clinical notes, and discharge summaries.
- Administers follow-up assessments.
- Provides crisis intervention and de-escalation.
- Possesses knowledge of DSV V diagnostic criteria and makes accurate diagnoses.
- Incorporates the use of evidence-based practices and motivational interviewing skills.
- Collaborates with other service providers and community resources to ensure clients receive comprehensive services.
- Participates in case conferences and team meetings to ensure effective integrated service delivery.
- Maintains accurate, timely and up-to-date client records and documentation.
- Promotes and demonstrates the Mission, Vision, and Core Values of Embrave.
- Develops and maintains good working relationships with all departments, the management team, regulatory agencies, and community partners.

EDUCATION/ WORK EXPERIENCE:
Master’s degree in social service field or related field.
Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Licensed Addictions Counselor (LAC) in good standing with Colorado’s Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA).
