The Opportunity:
The Associate Director of Alumni Engagement and Communication in the College of Business works in collaboration with the office of alumni engagement and manages all COB activities that increase its alumni engagement, including developing alumni profiles, establishing alumni boards as well as philanthropic activities, among others. This position ensures that the alumni are a key stakeholder in both constructing and executing COB's strategic plan. Additionally, the Director of Alumni Engagement and Communication will develop and execute a comprehensive communication strategy for the college. Strong communication skills across different mediums such as written, and video are required. The Director of Alumni Engagement and Communication will also work with faculty to develop strong external media content for classes. The position reports to the Associate Dean of COB with a dotted line to the University level Executive Director of Alumni Engagement.
Essential Job Functions, Duties, or Accountabilities:
Alumni Engagement Support:
- Identify and engage with 100 active alumni per quarter to participate in mentoring programs, enhancing the alumni network and providing valuable resources for current students.
- Identify at least 5 candidates a year suitable for the College of Business Dean's Council.
- Build and lead alumni groups tailored to COB needs such as mentoring, coaching, and academic guidance, aiming to increase alumni participation in these areas by 25% annually.
- Develop and implement new Alumni Engagement initiatives and programs, with a goal to introduce at least two innovative programs per year that align with COB's strategic objectives.
- Coordinate and evaluate annual giving campaigns, aiming to increase alumni contributions by 15% year-over-year through targeted communication and engagement strategies.
- Develop and execute advanced alumni communication strategies, leveraging analytics to increase the effectiveness of alumni outreach and engagement efforts.
- Strengthen the COB council of alums and integrate this body in college life.
- Organize, support, and manage Alumni events, ensuring a 20% increase in alumni participation and satisfaction annually.
- Enhance the annual Worldwide Virtual Homecoming week by introducing interactive and engaging virtual events that increase alumni participation by 30%.
Communications Support:
- Elevate the COB website and annual report, increasing the visibility of alumni success stories by 20% and ensuring content is engaging and up-to-date.
- Oversee design, content, and delivery of quarterly alumni news letter.
- Oversee the COB digital content library, ensuring resources are current, relevant, and accessible, and expanding the library by 20% annually.
- Collaborate with faculty and industry partners to produce high-quality videos for COB disciplines, increasing video content by 25% each year.
- Stay ahead of communication trends and best practices, implementing at least two new communication strategies per year to keep COB at the forefront of innovative engagement.
Secondary Job Functions or Duties:
- An understanding of learning management systems (specifically Canvas) is a plus.
- An understanding of pedagogical best practices and incorporating innovative media into courses a plus. Skills in producing effective newsletters.
- Alumni platforms to use; ADVANCE (database), Blackbaud FPM, anthology, EverTrue and Wrike
- Other duties as assigned.

QualificationsQualifications and Experience:
- Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism or Business.
- 2-3 years' experience in writing, building content and communication.
- A communication portfolio showcasing written and videography skills.
