Primary industry classifications include petroleum marketers, convenience stores, general retail, grocery stores and restaurants among others.
Leads, researches, and coordinates the ownership, execution, strategy, administration, and development of products and programs at enterprise level for the retail business segment.
Creates and communicates best practices and underwriting guidance to all of EMC. Develops new product ideas, reviews existing and drafts new coverage language.
Evaluates the cost and benefit of market opportunities and product initiatives and recommends actions based on evaluation, including identifying product improvements for complex products.
Essential Functions : Maintains primary oversight of the profit and develops / maintains the business plan for the retail business segmentServes as the retail business segment subject matter expert to provide strategic direction enterprise widePrimary contact for retail business segment branch referrals within assigned letter of authorityOversees the creation and communication of best practices and underwriting guidance for the retail business segmentAnalyzes premium and loss data to ensure long-term profitable growthDevelops new product ideas and changes to existing coveragesConducts ongoing QA audits and conducts ongoing training on various retail related topicsEducation & Experience : Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a business or insurance related field, or equivalent relevant experienceTen years of commercial property and casualty underwriting including at least three years of staff underwriting experience in applicable business segmentInsurance designations, such as AU, CIC, or CPCU preferredKnowledge, Skills & Abilities : Advanced, proven knowledge of countrywide underwriting techniques, terminology, policies, and forms in applicable business areaExcellent underwriting judgment and decision-making skillsStrong knowledge of key performance indicators (KPIs) and ways to improve themAdvanced written and verbal communication skills, including presentation skillsAbility to work effectively with others, as well as independently and possess demonstrated problem-solving abilitiesStrong computer knowledge, Internet and keyboarding skillsStrong ability to advise, partner, influence and effectively consult with diverse internal and external stakeholders, including senior leaders, executives, and project ownersStrong ability to distill and communicate highly complex issues for technical and non-technical audiencesStrong ability to translate technical ideas into more general terms for business customersOccasional travel;
