 SUMMARY

The Estimating Coordinator/Estimator is responsible for estimating and providing management with detailed pricing for development of bid quotations and bid packages. Ideal candidate should have relevant experience in preparing cost estimates for product manufacturing, construction projects, or services to aid management in bidding on or determining price of product or service.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 Include the following. Other duties will likely be assigned.

  • Assist departments workload as needed.
  • Maintain confidentiality of operations department and company information.
  • Escalate critical and/or sensitive issues to the department managers with recommendation for resolution.
  • Maintain and update bid list daily.
  • Assign proposal numbers to bid opportunities, create and maintain proposal folders with all updates/addenda to plans and specifications.
  • Prepare finalized proposal to submit as per estimating bid forms.
  • Manage a high volume of incoming and outgoing emails.
  • Handle incoming calls regarding inquiries from subcontractors/general contractors.
  • Perform additional assignments as required by the operating needs of the company or as directed by executives.
  • Collect historical cost data to estimate costs for current or future products.
  • Consult with clients, vendors, personnel in other departments, or construction foremen to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.
  • Prepare estimates used by management for purposes such as planning, organizing, and scheduling work.
  • Analyze blueprints and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates.
  • Confer with engineers, architects, owners, contractors, and subcontractors on changes and adjustments to cost estimates.
  • Review contract and bid documents; review and understand scope for project turnover.
  • Attend walk-throughs, pre-bid, and scope clarification meetings.
  • Quantitative take-off and computer entry
  • Maintain relationships with customers, General Contractors, vendors, and subcontractors.
  • Coordinate the efforts of junior and staff-level resources in performing take-offs, issuing bills of material to vendors and obtaining subcontractor quotes.
  • Ensure documents are centrally saved in the company’s drive within the confidential estimating folder(s)
  • Assist project managers with takeoffs and pricing changes in work.
  • Comply with all Company operating policies, procedures, and safety programs as established.
  • Perform additional assignments as required by the needs of the company or as directed by executives.

QUALIFICATIONS

 PREFERRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • 2-3 years related experience in the construction industry is preferred, but not required.
  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or currently pursuing preferred. Comparable relevant work experience is also acceptable.
  • Working knowledge of procurement, construction industry, and contract documentation is a plus.

 COMPUTER SKILLS

  • Must demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, (i.e., Outlook, Word, and Excel)

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to commute to field locations to accurately perform takeoffs.  The employee must have the ability to navigate around job site locations.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.

Compensation Range: $62,400 - $70,000
