SUMMARY
The Assistant Project Manager position at Contra Costa Electric, Inc., reports directly to the Branch Manager located in Fresno, CA.
The Assistant Project Manager position is a critical role for the company. As a member of our project management team, you will assist various project managers in the oversight of all aspects of assigned projects from conception through completion. This individual will be responsible for assisting the various project managers in planning, directing, or coordinating activities concerned with the construction and maintenance of structures, facilities, and systems. They will participate in the conceptual development of a construction project and oversee its organization, scheduling, budgeting, and implementation. This individual must have the ability to support field personnel in their relationships with other subcontractors and to resolve field problems as they arise. This individual assist various project managers with maintaining financial responsibilities of the project and must understand construction financial and accounting practices.
They will assist various project managers to manage these projects in a manner that exceeds our customers' expectations and ensures that our work meets all company performance goals and safety policy requirements.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist in the following activities as required:
- Oversees work assignments and performance of personnel assigned to project.
- Identifies and acquires necessary project resources internally and externally.
- Plans, reviews, and updates weekly project activities to ensure project performance.
- Maintains project budget and scheduling activities.
- Oversees the quality, safety, and performance of subcontractors.
- Oversees billings and collections processes.
- Assists and resolves issues in customer service, support, and billings.
- Maintains all required project documentation.
- Manages job start and project closeout process.
- Maintains positive working relationships with clients, building owners, contractors, consultants, vendors and partners.
- All other activities as assigned by the manager.
Assist with the following activities as required:
- Drive the project’s overall flow effectively from inception to completion.
- Obtain contract and bid documents from estimating; review and understand scope for project turnover.
- Attend walk-throughs.
- Ensure all project document control is completed efficiently by project team, including but not limited to, insurance, bonding, permits, submittals, RFI’s, change orders, correspondence, etc.
- Confer with supervisory personnel, owners, contractors, or design professionals to discuss and resolve matters such as work procedures, complaints, or construction problems.
- Inspect or review projects to monitor compliance with building and safety codes, environmental regulations, or other regulations.
- Select subs and equipment suppliers with input from engineering, estimating and purchasing as required.
- Request PO’s for major equipment and subs indicating shipping requirements, and anticipating delivery dates.
- Host and attend all necessary meetings with both internal and external entities to review scheduling and delivery, work plans, job progress, manpower, and solutions to setbacks.
- Collaborate with foreman regarding project safety.
- Collaborate with field personnel to gather information for changes in work for pricing. The Project Manager is expected to understand impacts of changes to work and should be able to perform electrical takeoff and change order formulation.
- Engages estimating department for assistance on larger change orders where applicable.
- Escalate critical and/or sensitive issues to the Division Manager with recommendation for resolution.
- Comply with all Company operating policies, procedures, and safety programs as established.
- Perform additional assignments as required by the needs of the company or as directed by executives.
General:
- Quickly learn and apply Project Management practices and technical skills.
- Work independently with little or no supervision after having been shown how to accomplish assignments.
- Ask appropriate questions related to assignments and recommend improvements.
- Practice excellent organization and remain upbeat and pleasant, even when facing the pressure of pending or multiple deadlines.

- Able to work 40 hours per week in Fresno, CA with some travel Job Sites as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Minimum 1 years related experience working in the construction industry.
Must be willing to demonstrate a willingness to learn and become proficient in the following area:
- All areas of electrical installation including a working knowledge of contract documents, project estimates, and construction specifications.
- Understanding of basic labor relations, including union contract requirements and hiring practices.
- Knowledge of project financial management including billing, cash flow projections and related activities.
- Understanding of conceptual budgeting and design build.
- Knowledge of work in progress reporting and productivity monitoring.
- Coaching, teaching, mentoring, and personnel development.
- Training in NFPA 70E, and OSHA compliance.
COMPUTER SKILLS
- Must demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, (i.e. Outlook, Word and Excel)
Must be willing to demonstrate a willingness to learn and become proficient in the following area:
- ACCUBID and/or other Estimating software systems.
- Viewpoint or similar accounting software or related accounting system.
- AutoCAD, and other electrical, technical, or construction programs.
- Project management/document control software.
