The Chiller Operations Manager is responsible for managing the company's day-to-day maintenance and repair operations for Chiller systems and reporting directly to the Service Group Manager. This includes providing recommendations for improvement, identifying future potential challenges and opportunities, and developing effective communications processes to support and engage Tucker Mechanical business leaders.
The Chiller Operations Manager is responsible for the development, design, operation, and improvement of the systems that create and deliver Chiller maintenance and repair offerings within Tucker Mechanical’s market sector. The Chiller Operations Manager is responsible for ensuring that business operations are efficient and effective and that the proper management of resources, distribution of goods and services to customers is conducted and leads appropriate change initiatives, as needed. The Chiller Operations Manager communicates and reinforces the Tucker Mechanical Values and Safety culture through all operations and systems so that it infiltrates business leaders and employee’s actions. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversee all maintenance and repair operations of the Chiller Execution Team to ensure adherence to high levels of safety, quality, customer service, cost control, reliability, financial performance while maintaining a team environment.
- Supervise and direct the Chiller team (Technicians, Specialists, Installers and Subcontractors) during planning, design, installation start-up, programming, commissioning, turnover, warranty and maintenance and repair of projects.
- Manages the financial performance of all Chiller related projects, repairs, maintenance programs, retrofits, and teardowns.
- Drive operational efficiency and standardization across all Chiller related offerings. Oversight of all Applied Chiller work to ensure projects are completed on a timely and cost-efficient basis.
- Collaborate with the Service Group Manager to assure that the company has in place processes and tools in line with industry best practices. Drive the implementation of appropriate technology and training throughout the Chiller group.
- Work closely with Service Coordinator, Customer Service Manager and Account Executives to build, develop, and schedule Chiller services for all applicable clients.
- Develop and continually improve technical reporting processes and technical training programs for employees.
- Maintain a culture of accountability and continuous improvement where key performance indicators (‘KPI’s’) are known, quantified, tracked, and reviewed.
- Participate in project sales and the identification of sales targets.
- Interfaces directly with clients to define work scope and project requirements.
- Prepares project plans, delivery resource requirements, work plan schedule / milestones, ensures quality control, risk identification and mitigation planning.
- Actively participate in senior-level selling on strategic projects or accounts as well as maintain senior-level relationships with existing owner / end user customers.
- Provide guidance to sales teams as it pertains to maintenance programs, multi-year contracts and other chiller related services to develop long-term relationships with new and existing clientele.
- Be actively involved in meetings, presentations, and entertainment events with customers.
- Develops and maintains personal contact with new and current customers to maximize opportunities, ensure customer satisfaction and provide support on current and future projects / service contracts.
- Collaborate with all departments within the organization to assist in lead generation, opportunity execution, while assisting with the overall sales to operations strategy.
Qualifications:
Undergraduate degree or graduate degree, preferably in Business, Finance or Engineering and at least 10 years’ of progressive experience in the Commercial/Industrial Chiller Systems or 15 or more years of progressive experience in the Commercial/Industrial Chiller maintenance and repair Industry with at least 10 years’ of experience leading complex large Chiller repair projects/services in the public and private sector.
o In-depth knowledge of the Chiller industry and its current events
o Technical competencies - understand manufacturer equipment, software, etc.
o High initiative and ability to work well in a team environment
o Effectively handle stressful situations and deadline pressures
o Strong communication skills.
