What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director, Risk Management position at Emcor?
This position is responsible for the development, enhancement and implementation of successful property and casualty risk and insurance programs for EMCOR and its 80 operating companies worldwide. This includes the attainment of optimal risk management and cost outcomes, through claims management and oversight strategies. Additionally, this position is accountable for the selection and management of internal and external resources and assets in the support EMCOR management, operations, shareholders and EMCOR’s Operating Companies.
Responsibilities: -
- Lead development and enhancement of corporate policies / programs for risk management / oversight.
- Lead goal setting, selection, performance and cost management of internal and external resources.
- Support senior leaders to drive a risk culture across the organization and ensure the effective operation of enterprise risk management.
- Set Risk Management standards, provide orientation and enhance awareness and skill throughout the company, with a focus on providing high quality service to Operating Companies.
- Provide for the establishment and maintenance of records including insurance policies, claim and loss experience.
- Provide a methodology to identify and analyze the financial impact of loss to the organization, employees, the public, and the environment.
- Produce risk reports working with key contributors and support the analysis of significant risks and the appropriate mitigation measures.
- Perform risk evaluations and comparing potential risks with criteria as set by EMCOR.
- Oversee Management related financial responsibilities, inclusive of quarterly and year end production of current liabilities reporting, forecasting, claim analyses, trending and related activities.
- Identify and analyze trends to continuously improve the risk management approach, including the identification of gaps in processes and capabilities.
- Examine the use of realistic and cost-effective opportunities to balance retention programs with commercial insurance.
- Establish data and procedures to adhere to compliance and verification processes for internal and external audits and departmental policies for maintenance of current and historical data and coverage information.
- Drive optimal service standards for providers of risk services to EMCOR, its operations, clients and customers, including contract management and certificates of insurance program management.
- Direct and perform due diligence on potential acquisitions and direct appropriate close out, merger and dissolution activities.
- Develop/enhance risk management processes, tools and templates and facilitate the identification, assessment and reporting of risks across EMCOR.
- Develop, enhance and maintain internal / external relationships, including all levels of EMCOR, its operations, and insurers, insurance brokers, actuarial services, TPA’s, and others.
- Develop and maintain risk monitoring and reporting structures, including reporting dashboards, risk registers, templates and supporting documentation.
- Building risk awareness amongst staff by providing support and training within EMCOR.
- Assist in the review of major contracts, proposed facilities, and/or new program activities for loss and insurance implications.
- Assist in preparing risk management and insurance budgets and allocate claim costs and premiums.
- Other responsibilities as directed by Company and as appropriate.
Qualifications: -
- B.A. / B.S. required (degree in Risk Management, Finance or related field a plus).
- Masters degree in Risk Management, Business or related field beneficial
- Minimum 10 years experience in Risk Management required.
- Strong Risk Management technical skills, including but not limited to expertise risk management/claims management.
- Construction related experience and accounting experience preferred. Additional industry related experience a plus.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, analytical and resource development skills including a track record of implementing constructive change.
- CRIS and MLIS (IRMI) designation preferred, ARM or CPCU certifications beneficial.
- Highly developed communication / presentation skills.
- Personal & team leader effectiveness / credibility / decisiveness.
- Robust technology skills, including knowledge of Outlook, Excel, Adobe, Word, Power Point, and ability to assist in the development of RMIS solutions required.
- Travel 25%

- This role is responsible for developing and maintaining enterprise risk management across the EMCOR. This is a challenging position which requires a knowledge of the contexts in which we work, ability to apply risk frameworks and standards, experience with planning and implementation, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to work well in a distributed, multicultural environment.
- Position will manage employees in the department and is responsible for the hiring, development and performance management of such employees.

Compensation Range: $188,000 - $229,000
Other Compensation: this position is bonus eligible
