ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Prepare purchase orders, solicit bid proposals, and review requisitions for goods and services, Handle day to day purchases as well as large electrical package buy-outs.
  • Seek Reliable vendors, negotiate, renegotiate, and administer contracts with suppliers, vendors, and other representatives.
  • Purchase the highest quality merchandise at the lowest possible price and in correct amounts.
  • Analyze price proposals, financial reports, and other data and information to determine reasonable prices, alongside with purchasing Manager.
  • Assist with Procurement Director’s workload, act as a gate keeper and internal/external contact.
  • Logistics and material management; inventory control of materials with warehouse staff.
  • Assist project managers with problem solving and sourcing the appropriate material for various field scenarios.
  • Manage material lead times to fit with project schedules.
  • Build in new item codes into purchasing database.
  • Administration of packing slips invoices, and coordination with project managers and A/P.
  • Review technical specifications for raw materials, commodities, components or equipment.
  • Generate accurate purchase orders.
  • Follow up on the timing of deliveries.
  • Interact effectively with all members of the organization and outside associates.
  • Actively drive standard processes to achieve desired supplier performance (quality, delivery, productivity, lead time, etc.)
  • Interact with accounting to ensure timely order processing and required documentation.
  • Adhere to Company operating policies, procedures, and safety programs as established.
  • Escalate critical and/or sensitive issues to the Procurement Director with recommendation for resolution.
  • Perform additional assignments as required by the operating needs of the company or as directed by executives.

PREFERRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration and/or experience in the electrical construction industry.
  • At least five (3-5) years of purchasing experience in the construction industry.
  • Familiarity with a wide variety of field construction concepts, practices and procedures.
  • Working knowledge of construction contract language and terms.
  • Familiarity with local market is highly desirable.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and internet searches.
  • Working knowledge of procurement, construction industry, and operations management is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of federal, state, and city regulations and guidelines.

  • Time management skills – ability to meet frequent deadlines
  • Basic clerical skills, including but not limited to typing, faxing, scanning, calendar management, handling mailings, etc.

COMPUTER SKILLS

  • Must demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, (i.e. Outlook, Word and Excel).
  • Working knowledge of purchasing, project and financial software.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to commute to field locations. The employee must have the ability to navigate around job site locations.
