Your Role:
EMD Electronics is seeking an Operations Manager for its MEGASYS® team at Santa Clara, CA. The Operations Manager will help develop and drive site goals and objectives, develop a team of managers, and improve overall site safety and quality performance by focusing on a set of department issues. The Operations Manager will maintain and foster customer relationships by daily communication, anticipating/meeting customer needs, and delivering on commitments. This position will require interfacing with a large contingent of internal and external departments that include, but are not limited to, Site Operation Departments, EH&S, Human Resources, Engineering and Sales.
MEGASYS® is the branded name for EMD Electronics services offering where EMD Electronics technicians and engineers provide on-site gas and chemical/slurry management on an ongoing contractual basis. MEGASYS® personnel are assigned on a full-time basis ranging from 7 day / 24-hour coverage to periodic service calls. The scope of supply includes services maintaining the operation, and repair of gas distribution equipment; bulk liquid gases management, gas blending equipment; life safety systems, and first responder services. They will ensure compliance in operation and procedures, emergency preparedness, and drive flawless execution.
This position is directly responsible for a multi-functional operation and requires a comprehensive understanding of gas and chemical delivery systems for the purpose of technical communications with the customer and other supporting departments within the organization. Other responsibilities of the Operations Manager will include overseeing various aspects of the operations that include, but are not limited to, process safety management, system design and modification, factory innovation engineering support, and various continuous improvement activities.
- Responsible for safety, leadership, employee development, hands-on scope of service support, and field training of shift employees in Semiconductor Gas and Chemical Operations
- Lead 24 x 7 operations of 4 shift supervisors and 40 technicians in compliance and safe completion of operations and maintenance procedures
- Drives 100% compliance to achieve flawless safety and quality execution
- Responsible for meeting all department goals and maintaining KPI’s, driving continuous improvement in safety and operations to maintain flawless execution of all gas and chemical operations
- Key customer interface and escalation point for all operations-related requests.
- Drives safety-first culture with constant safety messages, communications, and team interaction to meet ZERO targets in safety and quality performance
- Maintains KPIs and ensures team meets all required Basic Safety Process activities and safety requirements (including performing regular spot checks)
- Drives a continuous improvement culture of making operational changes based on site needs and KPIs
- Responsible for change notification and implementing change across the department
- Works as a team player with other departments and provides backup vacation relief in the absence of peers
- Maintains continuous flow of work from shift to shift to meet all operational goals
- Maintains clear and direct communications of the department goals and objectives to meet all deadlines
- Serve as the main customer contact and escalation point for all operations activities
- Drives timely completion of all sustaining activities, maintaining ZERO gas or chemical interruptions to production
- Communicates customer activities: reporting out on delayed service requests, equipment reset status, and action item list completion. Monitors and reports on any equipment or service excursion and perform appropriate escalation to customers
- Develops operations supervisors and operation technicians to maximize productivity and efficiency. Sets expectations, performs one on one reviews at least bimonthly, and conducts yearly performance reviews. Hiring manager for the department, conducting interviews, selecting candidates, onboarding, and offboarding
- Lead investigator and perform 8D investigations with the use of the 8D problem-solving format. Conducts root cause investigations, develops, and closes action items. Reports out all incident reports to internal and external customers Maintains online shift schedule, tracks all attendance and performance-related issues, and delivers employee feedback as recommended or required
Who You Are:
Minimum Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED
- 5 years of management experience in fast-paced gas/chemical manufacturing or semiconductor field 2 years’ experience in MAXIMO or other maintenance database systems
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering discipline
- Working knowledge of gas and chemical systems and SEMI construction standards Proficient in MS applications such as SharePoint, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat
Pay Range for this position - $49,500 - $148,900
