Reports to: TV Technical Services Manager

Rate: $16.50/hour

General Description: Responsible for the operations of a tower-mounted camera which is used primarily for the head-on replay that is shown to the public and for the observation of riding infractions during the running of a race event.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Operate the camera during all racing events.
  • Strive to provide a useable image to the control room at all times, so images can be used for cover shots and backgrounds.
  • Make every effort to keep the camera properly focused.
  • Perform daily lens cleaning task using proper methods and materials.
  • Be available before and after the race day to assist in TV set changes, production work, etc.
  • Understand and be able to perform the setup and routine operational adjustments of all components (Lens, camera head and pan head) of the external camera system.
  • Keep the tower work area cleaned on a daily basis.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

General or working knowledge of TV and audio studio operations.Ability to make very smooth focus, zoom, pan and tilt moves with the camera.Proficiency in the operation, adjustment and routine maintenance of: Grass Valley LDK 2000/4000 Camera Systems, Cannon Lens system, and Pan/tilt head

Special Requirements:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older (work place risk involves working in high off-the-ground area)
  • Washington Horserace Commission License

Work Environment, Communication & Physical Abilities:

The employee will regularly work outside, performing work in high, precarious places as well as in outside wet weather conditions. Tower Camera Operators should have the ability to lift up to fifty pounds (50 lbs.) while performing the duties of this job. Provide information to, and collect information from other departments. Coordinate projects and solve problems involving other departments. Contact with other departments will be made by telephone, email and in person.

Pay: $16.50 per hour

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift
  • Weekends as needed

Education:

  • High school or equivalent (Preferred)
