Associate Editor

Overview

Emerald is seeking an Associate Editor to work as an integral part of an active, innovative editorial team. The Associate Editor will support the editorial team for Demand Gen Report, an online publication covering the latest trends in B2B marketing and sales. Work will include editorial and event planning assistance, supporting a team of two editors. Working closely with senior-level staff, this position is perfect for an early career writer or editor who is looking to gain greater B2B content experience.The best candidate for this position will have an excitement and demonstrated interest in learning B2B writing and content. In addition, you must be calm under pressure and unflappable in the face of timely or urgent requests, highly self-motivated with the ability to take initiative without direct supervision, and open to constructive, supportive feedback with a commitment to consistent learning, development, and improvement. In addition, the ideal candidate will have the confidence to suggest innovation and create efficiencies, and be a team player with a positive, optimistic attitude who can recognize and celebrate wins of all sizes.

Responsibilities

• Supporting editorial staff in all activities leading to publication, including supporting editors and overseeing tasks such as source aggregation, story research and writing, proofreading and more;
• Coordinating with other inhouse teams, writers, designers and sales reps to negotiate and monitor timelines for the publishing process;
• Organizing and researching projects to tight deadlines;
• Summarizing written material to pitch potential stories;
• Writing, editing, proofreading and organizing contributed bylines and other stories alongside content produced in house, including but not limited to:
  • Writing articles and reports
  • Proofing, editing and writing online content including via social media
  • Compiling newsletters via email for distribution
  • Revising articles
  • Organizing the work of several authors
  • Uploading text and images to a website using a content management system
• Managing phone and email queries, e.g. from PR teams and potential sources

Qualifications

• Experience with creative writing, journalism, marketing or public relations writing, including writing promotional or editorial copy
• Fluent in AP Style editing and writing
• Specific interest in marketing or lead generation a plus
• SUPER detail oriented, with the ability to ensure accuracy and high quality across multiple responsibilities
• A superb communicator, with excellent verbal and written communication skills
• A skilled multitasker with demonstrated ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects
• Able to provide clear information in a timely way to support internal or client decisions
• Someone who enjoys working in a fast paced, dynamic environment
