Emerge, a global talent solutions company is currently recruiting a Human Resource Specialist for our client in Hampton, VA.
The HR Attendance Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring accurate tracking and management of employee attendance within the organization. Responsibilities include monitoring attendance systems, addressing attendance-related issues, and facilitating compliance with company policies and regulations. This position requires strong attention to detail, effective communication skills, and a commitment to upholding attendance standards.
Duties entail, but are not restricted to:
- Overseeing the time and attendance system, including monitoring employee attendance, implementing corrective measures, and liaising with supervisors and staff to ensure timely adherence.
- Managing Family Medical Leave matters, ensuring compliance, and conducting meetings with employees as necessary.
- Coordinating Short-term and Long-term disability processes, facilitating the return from leave to work through interdepartmental communication and employee support.
- Assisting with payroll operations, acting as a backup when needed, and coding leave in the timekeeping system.
- Supporting hourly employee recruitment and retention efforts, as well as ongoing training and development initiatives.
- Assisting with HR Information Systems (HRIS) and other HR systems, such as new hire processing, paid time off administration, and managing interfaces within the HRIS.
- Compiling various ad hoc reports and metrics as required.
- Assisting in the rollout of strategic HR programs and communications.
- Ensuring adherence to HR policies, federal and state employment laws, and regulations.
- Ensuring all activities align with Equal Employment Opportunity policies.
- Undertaking additional assigned tasks as necessary. This position operates during first shift, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with the expectation of overtime and availability for evening and weekend work when needed.
Qualifications:
- A high school diploma or GED from an accredited institution
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in human resources
- Minimum of 1 year payroll processing OR human resource experience within a manufacturing environment
- Minimum of 1 year time keeping experience
- Strong MS Office Excel skills to include formulas and pivot tables
