Position Overview:

The Controls Shop/Maintenance Technician plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation and maintenance of control systems within the energy industry. This position primarily involves working with control panels, electrical wiring, hydraulics, and mounting components to panels and enclosures. The technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing control systems to optimize operational efficiency and safety standards.

Essential Duties:

Installation and Assembly:

  • Inspect, Maintain and occasionally install control panels and related components according to specifications and industry standards.
  • Mount and wire control devices, sensors, switches, relays, and other electrical components onto panels and enclosures.

Electrical Wiring:

  • Perform electrical wiring and connections for control systems, ensuring proper insulation, grounding, and adherence to safety regulations.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical faults, short circuits, and malfunctions in control panels and wiring systems.

Hydraulics Maintenance:

  • Maintain hydraulic systems and components integrated into control systems.
  • Inspect hydraulic hoses, pumps, valves, and cylinders for leaks, wear, and proper functioning.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and repair activities to ensure hydraulic systems operate efficiently and reliably.

Control System Maintenance:

  • Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance on control systems to identify and address potential issues proactively.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot control system malfunctions, utilizing diagnostic tools and techniques to identify root causes and implement effective solutions.
  • Collaborate with engineering and maintenance teams to develop and implement upgrades, modifications, and enhancements to control systems as needed.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and equipment history.
  • Generate reports documenting findings, recommendations, and actions taken during maintenance and troubleshooting processes.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, colleagues, and other stakeholders to provide updates on maintenance activities and ensure timely resolution of issues.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Proven experience in control panel assembly, electrical wiring, and hydraulic systems maintenance, preferably within the energy industry or a related field.
  • Proficiency in interpreting technical drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
  • Prior knowledge of electrical and hydraulic principles, components, and systems.
  • Familiarity with control systems, PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers), HMI (Human-Machine Interface), and SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems is plus.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools safely and effectively.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Commitment to safety protocols and practices in all aspects of work.
  • Solution-oriented, organized and self-motivated.

Requirements:

  • Dependable and reliable – ability to work some non-traditional hours in and out of the shop.
  • Pass background check and drug screen.
  • Have a valid driver’s license and be able to drive long distances.
  • Expected 40-55 hours per week.
  • Ability to relocate to Seminole, TX prior to starting work (required).
  • In-person position.
  • Overtime and weekends as needed.
  • Working in outdoor elements periodically.

Education and Certification:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; additional technical training or certification in electrical, hydraulic, or control systems is advantageous.
  • Relevant vocational or trade certifications (e.g., Electrician, Hydraulic Technician) may be preferred.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • $21.00 - $25.00 per hour
