With offices across North Carolina, the Physical Therapy Technician supports both the Physical Therapist and their Assistant in planning and implementing patient care. The Technician is responsible for administering physical therapy modalities of treatment under the direct supervision of the Physical Therapist. The primary functions of this role include assisting with patient preparation before treatment, responding to patients’ requests for assistance while performing the exercise program, and maintaining the equipment used during the treatment session. Additional responsibilities include maintaining patient confidentiality, cleaning, and sterilizing treatment areas, performing laundry services, and clerical tasks as requested.
Qualifications and Experience
- High school diploma required
- Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required
- Previous experience in an orthopedic clinic setting preferred
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks and demands
- Ability to maintain composure when confronted with stressful situations
- Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with co-workers, providers, and patients
- Strong customer orientation Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following
- Maintain adequate knowledge base regarding precautions for the patient undergoing physical medicine services and treatments
- Manage and operate equipment safely and correctly
- Observe patients during therapy sessions to assess their progress, noting any challenges they may be experiencing
- Prepare patients for treatment by helping them get into position on treatment tables
- Prepare equipment and supplies necessary for treatment sessions
- Communicate patients’ progress or any concerns about their health status to the supervising Therapists
- Assist patients with their exercises and other tasks to promote recovery
- Help patients learn how to perform exercises on their own, if appropriate
- Maintain medical records on patients’ progress during treatment sessions
- Prepare and clean treatment areas for patient use. Cleaning and sterilizing equipment and treatment rooms for each visit
- Respond to the request of assistants during routine exams and treatments
- Performs other duties as required and assigned by Manager, including schedule changes and travel to office locations as assigned
