Job Summary: Asist with office based procedures following aseptic technique, hand off instruments, assist with obtaining, labeling and sending specimens, perform low and high level disinfection procedures, perform POC testing, enter orders into computer Room patients, set up exam/ procedure rooms *Qualification Requirements: MINIMUM EDUCATION: High School Diploma, Graduation from an accrediated Medical Assistant program MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: Certified Medical Assistant, Successful completion of orientation and competency validation for independently preparing for and assisting with all Department specific procedures and POC testing JUDGEMENT: Incumbent may work under close supervision following established routines or assigned work with limited employee latitude. Employee may work under general supervision and receives general guidance on work priority with substantial employee latitude. Employee may work independently under the general direction of their leader. LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION: Medical Assistant Certification *Job Roles: Responsible for performing routine and more complex medical assistant clinical duties to include, but not limited to, taking vital signs, administering a limited number of medication per Emory Clinic approved policy, performing simple diagnostic tests, collecting specimens, drawing blood, sterilizing and cleaning equipment, and maintaining examination rooms in an outpatient care setting. Assists physicians and APP¿s with patients, equipment preparation, aseptic technique and surgical procedures in the exam/procedure room. Prepares the exam/ procedure room by assembling routine supplies, materials, instruments and equipment; obtains special supplies indicated by physician. Accountable for the care and handling of instruments and equipment. Assists in the preparation, transportation, and positioning of patients for the procedure and provides for the physical comfort, safety, and privacy of the patient during the procedure. Observes patient for possible symptoms which may indicate a change in condition and reports to appropriate member of medical team for immediate action. Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of the principles of sterile technique and infection control; practices appropriate procedures to maintain a sterile environment.
