At the Emory Centers for Public Health Training and Technical Assistance (Emory Centers), we help our clients and their partners develop the professional skills, evidence-based programs, and policy action needed to build healthier communities. Housed within the Rollins School of Public Health, Emory Centers provides innovative trainings, technical assistance, and materials to build the knowledge and skills to foster strong leadership, increase organizational capacity, and strengthen partnerships. Our clients include state and local departments of health, non-profit organizations, and foundations. Our services span across all public health issues, risk factors, and professional competencies. Our four dedicated subcenters have provided capacity-building and community mobilization services in all 50 states and territories over the last 20 years. JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Manages and provides technical and supervisory oversight to projects, programs, or studies.
  • Uses specialized knowledge and experience with public health principles to analyze, develop, implement, and promote solutions to public health issues/problems.
  • Works effectively with study, program, or project teams and/or study sites and successfully manages related activities to achieve goals within required timeframes and budgets.
  • Will assist and or help with the design, implementation, and maintenance of program or study-related systems and procedures.
  • Manages and provides guidance, clarification, and feedback to PHPA staff.
  • Develops process improvements to enhance efficiency and quality.
  • Provide consultative resources to principal investigators or to project, program, or study managers and coordinators.
  • Prepares proposals, protocols, data analysis plans, reports, manuscripts, and presentation of study findings.
  • Addresses public health issues by providing education, technical assistance, advocacy, public awareness, and research.
  • Works with programs or studies designed to evaluate the prevalence or surveillance of public health issues and the effectiveness of targeted interventions.
  • May coordinate clinical study sites to ensure patient recruitment and data collection standards compliance.
  • May provide technical assistance to organizations to include presentations, websites, strategies, and educational forums to address specific public health issues.
  • May design, develop, and conduct targeted training initiatives.
  • May collaborate with external organizations to develop action plans and goals to achieve specific objectives.
  • Identifies new potential projects, studies, or partners.
  • May co-author papers for publication and presentation at professional meetings or conferences.
  • Performs related responsibilities as required.

ADDITIONAL JOB DETAILS:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. This position is a requires strong public health skills, with a specific experience in materials development both for online and in person delivery, project management and implementation support.

  • Serves as the lead of the diabetes health equity core for the Diabetes MATCH Initiative managing all aspects of training strategy and delivery nationwide.
  • Responsible for the overall administration, staff management and communications of the diabetes health equity core operations.
  • Serves as the strategic lead in design and development of health equity training, TA design and delivery, and related materials and resources.
  • Ensures a health equity approach is applied across every core area including training and TA and diabetes communication tools and guiding documents.
  • Identifies and matches health equity SMEs in the design and delivery of trainings and TA.
  • Develops and directs implementation of a health equity training series for nationwide recipients and provides health equity related TA to project officers.
  • Leads relationship management of select Content Leadership Group members and health equity specific SMEs.

Specific Duties:

  • Collaborates with learning strategists, project officers and recipients to identify health equity related training and TA needs.
  • Collaborates with learning strategists to identify and capture recipient promising practices for story development.
  • Designs and matches appropriate health equity training and TA delivery format, frequency and learning level.
  • Provides direct delivery of health equity trainings and TA to project officers and recipients nationwide.
  • Leads a team in the design, development, and editing of educational materials, toolkits, support resources and tools, trainings, workshops, curriculum, and web-based products compliant with CDC standards.
  • Leads or co-leads with SMEs, the design and delivery of e-learning peer networks, online learning communities, and newsletters.
  • Assists with culturally responsive community assessments, landscape analyses, program evaluation and data collection.

Requirements:

  • Advanced experience working with the National Diabetes Prevention Program and/or diabetes self- management programs.
  • Experience in training and TA related to health equity and social determinants of health.
  • Experience in designing, developing, and editing health education materials.
  • Advanced skill in people relationship management and project management.
  • Experience working with diverse individuals and populations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A master's degree in Public Health, a master of science degree in Public Health or Health Education, or a master's degree in Development Practice and six years of relevant applied public health experience OR a master's degree in another field and seven years of public health experience.
  • Extensive data management and analysis experience.
  • Grant development, management, and administration experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with program and product development
  • Understanding of adult learning theory
  • Familiarity and high level of understanding using virtual meeting platforms like Zoom, Teams, or similar.
  • Skilled in Microsoft programs, especially PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Experience with tools/software related to project management and comfort with learning systems and technologies.
