The Department of Microbiology & Immunology, Emory University School of Medicine, invites applications at the levels of Assistant or Associate Professor for a tenure eligible position within the broad fields of immunology and immunity in disease. Applicants in all areas of immunology are encouraged to apply, especially those focused on durable immunity in tissues, neuro-immune crosstalk, immunity to infectious agents, autoimmune disease, and cancer immunology.

We offer a highly interactive, collaborative, and collegial research environment. The Department is scientifically diverse, with strengths in adaptive immunity, bacterial pathogenesis, molecular virology, epigenetics, and vaccinology. Graduate education is robust at Emory and our faculty have access to multiple discipline-specific graduate programs, including one focused in immunology. Our research facilities are state-of-the-art and include biocontainment labs and many excellent core facilities such as the Emory Integrated Proteomics Core, Emory Comprehensive Glycomics Core, Emory Gnotobiotic Animal Core, and the Emory Integrated Genomics Core. Our robust intellectual environment is enriched by proximity to and collaborations with The Emory Vaccine Center, Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, The Winship Cancer Institute, Emory Transplant Center, the Emory National Primate Research Center, the Biomedical Engineering Department at GA Tech, and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Applicants are expected to have a Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent degree and a record of productive postdoctoral training. Ideal candidates will be collaborative scientists that bring new perspectives to the department. The successful candidate will be expected to establish and maintain an extramurally funded research program, and to participate in our graduate and medical student training programs through mentorship and teaching. The primary criteria for selection will be excellence and creativity in research and scholarship.
