Position: Telecommunications Technician

Essential Accountabilities:

·       Configure the telecommunications infrastructure.

·       Perform routine and ad hoc maintenance on the telecommunications infrastructure.

·       Perform moves, adds and changes of telecommunications equipment.

·       Install telecommunications equipment including servers, routers, and switches.

·       Repair/replace defective telecommunications equipment.

·       Support the server-based paging system.

·       Document and adhere to technical procedures which support the Telecom infrastructure.

·       Recommend system or support improvements to maintain a positive continuous service improvement environment.

·       Perform backbone wiring maintenance and troubleshooting.

·       Ability to complete projects independently and on schedule.

·       Run, pull, terminate, and splice cables.

·       Strictly adhere to the department and MLH policies and procedures.

·       Other responsibilities as assigned.

·       Participate in the team’s on-call rotation.

Experience: 

·       Must display proficiency in installation, maintenance, and feature administration of Cisco telephony systems (e.g., CUCM and Unity)

·       Experience with Microsoft Teams Phone and cloud computing preferred.

·       Minimum 5 years’ experience in installation and maintenance of Cisco Telephony equipment.

·       Experience with IP networking and Ethernet switching equipment required.

·       Must be flexible in working safely and within the schedules requested by staff and/or patients.

·       Must exhibit excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work under stressful conditions.

·       Strong interpersonal and excellent communications skills (written and verbal) required.

·       Ability to interrupt planned workflow to address urgent repairs/issues.

·       Ability to travel between sites.

·       Ability to walk/stand for up to 90% of shift required.

·       Ability to lift/carry materials weighing up to 50lbs. required

·       Ability to work safely from a ladder in small, confined areas required.

Education:
Bachelor of Science Degree in appropriate area, or certified equivalent experience preferred.

Certification in Cisco and Microsoft Teams Phone preferred
