Senior Accountant I
Overview:
The Senior Accountant is responsible for managing complex spreadsheet-based processes and applying financial accounting concepts for the maintenance of a complete and accurate general ledger. Specific tasks will vary by role but can include maintaining amortization schedules, reclassing between prepaid and accrued accounts, managing the account reconciliation process, forecasting and budgeting, collaborating with IT to develop financial systems, and maintaining clear lines of communication with both internal and external partners. The Senior Accountant I is expected to complete these tasks with limited supervision and needs to be able to operate in a time-sensitive environment.
Responsibilities:
• Manage spreadsheet-based calculations for journal entries including amortization schedules, reclasses between prepaid and accrued accounts, receivable collection and evaluation, etc.
• Manage account reconciliation process by analyzing balance sheet, account balances, and assembling clear support for activity.
• Collaborate with Finance to identify variances and either provide explanations or post correcting entries.
• Collaborate with IT department to correct systemic issues and ensure effective functioning of financial systems.
• Identify and take ownership for process improvements. Update and maintain effective internal control processes and procedures.
Required Experience & Qualifications:
• 3 - 5 years of experience in Public Accounting or Corporate Accounting
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance or equivalent experience
• Ability to work and function independently, prioritize and manage multiple tasks/assignments and consistently meet deadlines
• CPA designation or working towards CPA a plus
