Senior Group Leader

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Oversee the smooth, efficient and continued operation of the laboratory in the absence of the Senior Manager of Microbiologist Testing
• Deal with clients and personnel
• Lab Review raw data
• Participate in testing of laboratory samples when necessary
• Notify the Senior Manager of Microbiologist Testing if there are any problems with data accuracy, personnel, client satisfaction, or any other laboratory operation
• Direct microbiological testing to include water testing, , testing of pharmaceutical and medical devices, cosmetics, chemicals, food and food constituents
• Read plates, enrichment broths and general testing data and complete appropriate paperwork as needed
• Interact with clients to include discussing and interpreting all states of data and testing procedures and answering inquiries as needed
• Comply with safety rules and regulations to include determining proper safety handling of samples
• Participate in quality control activities throughout the laboratory to include reviewing final reports, collecting data necessary for routine quality control functions and tests
• Troubleshoot and upgrade laboratory procedures to ensure compliance with legal and safety requirements
• Ensure all internal reports are separated and maintained in current test files related to raw data reports, file in appropriate records and forward all related information to appropriate individuals
• Participate in client meetings and client/regulatory agency audits as directed
• Relay staffing and equipment operation requirements to Laboratory Director
• Write, review and revise standard operating procedures
• Lift and carry laboratory equipment, petri dishes, boxes of water, laboratory soft goods and samples throughout the work area
• Assist with Lab Technician responsibilities as needed
• Determine and maintain correct inventory levels for lab supplie s
• Perform other related duties as assigned 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

• Organize, prepare and prioritize water testing
• Assist the Senior Manager of Microbiologist Testing with developing and maintaining of an effective organization through the selection, training, compensation, motivation, termination and review of employees
• Utilize the disciplinary action system if Testing laboratory staff does not comply with the employee handbook, personnel policies, procedures or training sessions 

Requirements / Skills:

• Degree: B.A. / B.S. or Equivalent
• Experience: At least 5 years of relevant laboratory/supervisory experience, or equivalent
