Job Posting for Summer Laboratory Intern at EMSL
EMSL is currently seeking a Part Time Summer Laboratory Intern for it Piscataway, NJ laboratory location. The role assists the laboratory with both administrative and sample preparation tasks.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Receive environmental samples and log-in/data entry Chain of Custody into LIMS system
Inspect samples to ensure sample integrity is retained and that the packaging is not compromised
Generate analytical reports and enter data produced by analysts into the computer system for the production of the final, client ready report. Reports are generated in the priority in which the lab manager assigns them
Preparation of environmental samples prior to analysis for Air Sample Prep, Bulk Sample Prep, Dust, and PLM
Use and calibration of equipment including but not limited to: freezer mill, plasma asher, carbon coater, fume hood, balance, pipettes, etc
Should have good lab practices
Disposal of lab waste
Cleaning and maintenance of lab equipment
Clerical duties such as answering phones, filing, faxing, assisting clients, scanning, mailing, etc. as necessary
Assist with customer services client questions via phone and e-mail
Keep work area clean and organized by wiping down sample receiving area, assisting with trash and recycling removal
Cross train and/or assist in other departments if needed to meet business demands
Requirements:
Pursuing an Associates or Bachelor's degree in life sciences
One to two years of previous academic or commercial lab experience a plus
Must be able to work independently and with a team
Must be able to work in a fast-paced setting, multi-task, and prioritize assignments
Must have good communication, computer, typing, and organizational skills
Available Shift:
Monday to Friday 11:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Monday to Friday 12:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
This is a season position, starting in early June and ending in mid to late August
