Position Overview
This individual is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the company's nationwide data and voice infrastructure.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Configuration and support of network hardware and software: routers, switches, firewalls, VPN, wireless, etc. Cisco and Meraki hardware.
- Configuration and support of VoIP phone system.
- Monitor network operation and health (using SolarWinds Orion and other tools).
- Coordinate with external network providers (i.e. Lumen, Comcast, etc.); manage trouble tickets for outages; place orders for new services; maintain accurate records of service contracts.
- Design and implement medium- and long-term projects to refresh network infrastructure periodically to ensure capacity and performance. Recommend upgrades or new solutions to management when needed.
- Maintain resource utilization plans, such as efficient IP address management, network bandwidth, etc.
- Implement security practices and policies to ensure the protection of internal and external resources.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge and industry certifications on topics relevant to network engineering.
- Back up the other infrastructure team members as needed, supporting Windows servers, Active Directory, Hyper-V, and Azure cloud infrastructure.
- Assist and support the other IT functions in their use of network resources and provide cross-training.
- Two year vocational/technical certificate in computer studies. Equivalent of computer support experience may substitute for certificate or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- At least 5 years of experience managing a complex multi-site network, including LAN, WAN, WLAN, and multi-vendor coordination
- At least 2 years of experience working with converged voice (VoIP) technologies
- In-depth understanding of network hardware, software, protocols, and concepts is required, including but not limited to: TCP/IP, EIGRP, OSPF, MPLS, QoS, VLAN, SIP, VPN, DNS, DHCP
- CCNA certification required, or the ability to obtain after hire
- Experience with cloud computing concepts is desired, preferably Microsoft Azure
- Experience with network security is a plus
- Experience managing Active Directory, ADCS, and PKI is a plus
