SUMMER YOUTH SPECIALIST for Teen Program

Overview:

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Youth Specialist to join our team for the upcoming summer season. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in working with youth, a deep appreciation for the arts, and a commitment to fostering a safe environment for all participants. As a Youth Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in guiding and inspiring middle and high school students to explore their talents while providing mentorship and support.

Responsibilities:

Mentorship and Guidance:

  • Provide one-on-one and group mentorship, fostering personal growth and development.
  • Serve as a positive role model by demonstrating empathy, respect, and integrity in all interactions with youth.

Program Facilitation:

  • Assist in the planning, development, and implementation of all activities
  • Lead engaging sessions that encourage self-expression and skill-building

Support and Advocacy:

  • Advocate for the needs and interests of participants within the program and the broader community.
  • Offer support and guidance to youth facing challenges such as social and emotional, or behavioral issues.

Collaborative Partnerships:

  • Collaborate with program staff, volunteers, and community partners to create a supportive and inclusive environment.
  • Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and collaborative projects to enhance program effectiveness.

Evaluation and Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate records of participant attendance, progress, and feedback, ensuring compliance with program requirements.
  • Assist in evaluating program effectiveness through participant surveys, focus groups, and other assessment tools.
  • Compile data and prepare reports to document program outcomes and impact for funders, stakeholders, and program evaluation purposes.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or Advanced Degree, preferred (or equivalent experience).
  • Previous experience working with youth in a mentoring, counseling, or teaching capacity.
  • Appreciation for the arts and a demonstrated ability to engage youth in activities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with diverse groups.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and adapt to changing needs and priorities.
  • Commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in all aspects of the program.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with youth from diverse backgrounds and communities, including underserved, marginalized, or at-risk backgrounds.
  • Proficiency in one or more artistic disciplines, such as visual arts, performing arts, or multimedia.
  • Knowledge of community resources and support services for youth and families.
  • Understanding of youth development principles and trauma-informed approaches.
  • CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain certification prior to the start of the summer program.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $14.00 - $15.00 per hour

Expected hours: No more than 32 per week

Schedule:

  • Day shift
  • Monday to Friday
