Vice President of Operations

Purpose: The VP of Operations will assure Baking Excellence through the efficient and effective manufacture of Safe Food at both facilities located in Indiana and Kentucky.
Strategic Initiatives: The VP of Operations establishes, implements and leads the strategic manufacturing and Quality direction of through the effective leadership of Family Members while utilizing a systems’ view of the organization.
This will involve optimizing operating efficiencies and effectiveness for existing products as well as the successful implementation and launch of new product lines. Extensive time will be required to be allocated towards activities within the food manufacturing environment, leading, coaching and managing activities on an ongoing basis. Must remain fully engaged in operational success in energy, mind and spirit.
Data driven with a focus on the success of teams. Liken this position to a Coach calling the plays on the operational field.

Summary/Objective
The VP of Operations plans, directs, coordinates, and oversees the entire supply chain with emphasis on operations activities. This role ensures development and implementation of efficient operations and cost-effective systems to meet current and future needs of the organization and its customers. The companies are at a critical juncture of consolidation and growth. A true leader is needed to bring together a group of very strong and skilled technical talent that needs guidance and clarity of purpose to achieve the next level of success. It is incumbent upon this role to assure a safe and positive work environment as evidenced by high retention and low safety incidents. Various tools will be utilized at the VP of Operations direction to assure the efficient manufacture of existing product lines, increase pounds per manhour, decrease scrap, maintain high order fill rate and assure the achievement of customer’s specifications for all products. Rework and hold product will be minimized, with a pervasive mentality of producing products correctly the first time. Leadership, involvement, teamwork and accountability of team members will be critical for success.
This position brings together different teams within the organization, spanning ingredient materials purchases, procurement/logistics, manufacturing, quality and outbound distribution under one span of control and cooperation. Facilitating a team working environment and coordination is key to success. Communication amongst these teams and throughout the organization is key to success.
This position identifies, recommends, and implements new processes, technologies, and systems to improve and streamline organizational processes and use of resources and materials. New product launches and equipment installation and optimization will be under the direct authority and responsibility of the VP of Operations.
Ultimately, ensuring a safe and positive work environment for team Members will be the responsibility of this position. This will require close cooperative effort with the all Family Members as well as the Family Pride team to create appropriate training and follow through of cultural endeavors. Initiatives alongside the Family Pride team identifying training needs and ensuring proper systems are developed and provided is crucial.

Collaborate with the executive leadership team to develop and implement company strategic plan and associated goals while providing expertise and guidance on operations projects and systems.
Grow the operational capability of the organization to successfully allow for sales growth targeting 12% annually.
Establishes and administers the department’s budget.

Succession Efforts
Effectively prepare the Director of Operations at each location with the ability to full fill the core operational duties within this job description. These duties include the requirements as a representative of the site’s food safety team.
