 Endicott College is seeking a Director, Major Gifts to join their Institutional Advancement team.

The Director, Major Gifts is responsible for the cultivating, soliciting, and closing pledges of $50,000 and managing the team of Regional Major Gifts Officers and Donor Experience Officer(s).

Other responsibilities include:

  1. Manage a team of frontline fundraisers: recruit, train, organize, and motivate frontline fundraisers;
  2. Travel for prospects and donor visits (10 substantive meetings/mo.) in a defined geographic area as needed to advance gift cases and move toward solicitation and close;  
  3. Solicit 25 prospects each year, 5 of those documented solicitations shall be $50K per year; and solicit estate gifts (primarily bequests) and annual gifts as part of the prospect plan;
  4. Identify and qualify new prospects capable of six and seven figure gifts within the region using all tools and information available including but not limited to daily gift logs, highly-rated prospects, prospects living in the most expensive districts within the region, past donors, donors to other institutions, parents, friends of the college, foundation leaders, corporate leaders, etc.;  
  5. Assist with Presidential or college leadership travel and boards as needed;   
  6. Be a generalist while getting to know Endicott, let donors lead your interests on campus, and introduce deans and leadership only after a prospect is legitimately qualified for a $50K gift.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree, masters or equivalent work experience preferred 
  • 8 years of experience in frontline fundraising or equivalent
  • 3-5 years successful management experience. 
  • Technologically proficient. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, database and project management software, and CRM systems.
  • Proven relationship manager with strong verbal and written communication skills are critical with a comfort in public speaking.  
  • Demonstrated project management skills, including organizing and managing multiple complex relationships while moving toward the goal of soliciting and closing gifts.
  • Strong proofreading and editing skills, demonstrated ability to think critically, and unwavering determination that leads to successful follow-through. 
  • Self-starter with a donor-driven disposition, earnest commitment to establishing and maintaining best practices, and strong interpersonal and communications skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to quickly understand and remember details about donors and projects.
  • Must be able to handle sensitive material confidentially.
  • Evening and weekend work are required during the year.  
  • The candidate must be a dynamic and energetic individual who can communicate and articulate a passionate message about the College’s many great advances and successes.
  • Possesses flexibility to accommodate changing priorities and deadlines.
