Professional Endodontics in Clarkston, MI is in search of a Dental Assistant who exhibits quality service, commitment, accountability, and excellence. The Dental Assistant provides a variety of oral health clinical procedures that assists the endodontist in providing a supreme customer experience. This role requires good judgment and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously with minimal supervision. The ideal candidate will maintain a timely schedule, warmly greet patients, ensure patient confidence in the services provided, stock supplies, and keep the operatory sanitary.
This position is in a dental practice setting that involves everyday risks or discomforts that require normal safety precautions.
Dental Assistant Duties and Responsibilities
- Welcomes patient with comfort to the operatory
- Liaison between patient and doctor
- Prepare operatory with sterilized instruments and materials
- Position and/or passes instruments, anticipating the doctor’s treatment cadence
- Prepare material by selecting, mixing, and placing on instruments or in patient’s mouth
- Take accurate digital radiographs (x-rays) and CBCT so that proper diagnosis and treatment can be achieved
- Educate patients on postoperative instructions and oral care
- Must be able to read and interpret patient records
- Document dental care by charting patient records
- Keep up with cleaning operatory including floors, cabinets, countertops.
- Maintain OSHA/HIPAA safety and policy procedures
- Able to react effectively in emergency situations
- Present a professional appearance and behavior that promotes patient care and a harmonious work environment
- Perform administrative tasks when needed
Qualifications
Dental Assistant Required Skills / Abilities
- Competency in administering dental x-rays and sterilization techniques
- Working experience with electronic dental record procedures
- Effectively communicate with patients, doctors and colleagues in a professional and positive manner
- Technical skills and proficiency with dental, scheduling, office, and other software with a working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
- Dexterity including the ability to handle instruments effectively with both hands
- Professional licenses according to state guidelines
- Self-motivated, can multi-task and is detail-oriented
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Dental Assistant diploma/certification from an accredited program
- Radiology certification
- CPR certification
- One year of experience in a dental practice; equivalent education and/or experience will be considered
- Knowledge of dentistry, particularly dental procedures and terminology, instruments, and hygiene
Dental Assistant Preferred Qualifications
- CBCT experience
- Knowledge of head / neck anatomy
- Endovision software
- Bilingual in Spanish is a plus
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of standing
- Must be able to lift-up to 15 pounds at times
- Visual acuity to read records and documents
