The Senior Project Manager (Project Execution Manager) is in charge of directing the execution of complex projects, in order to guarantee the achievement of safety, timeline, economics and quality objectives.
In the task, this individual can be supported by a Project Manager and/or a Deputy Project Manager.
The assigned projects are based on different renewable technologies (Wind, Solar, Geo, Hydro, BES), for a total of about 500MW of new additional electrical power to be installed every year.
The managed budget is approximately 500 millions of dollars per year. During the execution of a complex project, the Senior Project Manager (Project Execution Manager) coordinates a team composed of approximately 50 multidisciplinary and multinational internal employees and manages more than 20 Suppliers/Contractors. This individual interfaces directly with the Project Director/Executive of any Supplier/Contractor and may also be responsible for managing the complex Construction organization to assure the proper construction supervision of the US and Canada projects portfolio.
What You'll Do at Enel:
Responsibilities, include, but are not limited to:
- Manage the projects’ execution from the approved Projects’ Charter to the final handover to the relevant customers (Operation & Maintenance unit and financing partners);
- Manage the preparation and the continuous update of a Project management plan including time schedule, budget definition/contingencies allocation, procurement plan, communication, quality, stakeholder and risk management plan;
- Manage deviations/changes to ensure the achievement of the assigned goals of the Project;
- Coordinates all the E&C resources assigned to the project and the resources of the Staff Units (Safety, Procurement, Legal, Grid Integration, AFC, Regulatory Affairs, Communication, Corporate Social Responsibility) to ensure the achievement of all the project targets of the different departments;
- Manage the relationship with the main stakeholders (suppliers, contractors, local communities and administrations) to minimize conflicts and risks for the project;
- Report to the Project Execution Leader/s and EGP Top Management about the status and progress of the assigned projects;
- Support Business Development during all phases of the assessment of the opportunity (due diligence, feasibility study, investment memorandum, budget, risk matrix etc.);
- Coordinate the project initial Hand Over with the relevant Region/Country Business Development unit and the final Hand Over with the customer (usually the Operation & Maintenance department);
- Coordinate the project planning and schedule with the support of the Project Planning and Cost Control unit identifying and implementing any necessary corrective action;
- Coordinate the project budget with the support of the Project Planning and Cost Control unit identifying and implementing any necessary corrective action;
- Support the Procurement Department during all phases of the procurement process(e.g. scouting, Procurement Plan, RFPs, proposal evaluation, claims);
- Manage the relationships with the suppliers and contractors in collaboration with Contract Management and Expediting & Logistic units and in coordination with Construction and Procurement units;
- Manage the relationships with the Customers and Stakeholder in agreement with other relevant units of Global Renewable Energies business line;
- Lead the project team to achieve the project targets, always starting from the Safety, and coordinate/attend the project meetings;
- Coordinate the production of weekly/monthly project progress reports and inform the senior management on the project status;
- Manage the Project Closure and the Close Out Report with the relevant lesson learned;
- Coaching and mentoring the assigned resources to promote the skills improvement and an adequate professional growth;
- Support the Project Execution Leader/s in the change management;
- Promote the team working and the communication within the assigned project team;
- Promote the Safety, Environment and Quality Policy and the relevant behavior;
- Foster the continuous improvement with lesson’s learned and innovation ideas;
- Frequent travels to project site.
In the management of the complex Construction organization to assure the proper construction supervision of the US and Canada projects portfolio, the Project Execution Manager may also be responsible for:
- Planning of Construction Head Count;
- Supporting P&O in the Construction people hiring process;
- Foster the professional development of Construction Team Members;
- Perform the performance review process for the Construction Team Members, in alignment with the Project Execution Leader/s, P&O and the other Project Execution Managers;
- Define the Construction Team Members assignments to the various Portfolio Projects.
Who You Are:
- Track record of successful project management of complex projects (300MW wind/solar or more, 50MW Hydro/Geo or more);
- Knowledge of quality control and quality assurance means, methods and programs;
- Understanding of power plant construction means, methods and programs;
- Knowledge on Electrical Distribution and Control Systems;
- Knowledge of Power Plant Operation;
- Aptitude to switch to different technologies (Wind, Solar, Geothermal, Hydro, BES);
- Ability to apply/promote digitalization and innovation to work activities;
- Skilled in project management practices (PMI certification or equivalent) and problem solving;
- Skilled in cash flow, financial modeling, taxes, and managing budgets;
- Practiced organizational skills with ability manage and implement procedural changes;
- Ability to mentor peers and create avenues for knowledge sharing across teams;
- Ability to work independently under minimal supervision;
- Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office: Outlook, Word, Excel, MS Project, PowerPoint;
- Excellent written and verbal communication;
- Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to effectively support and work well with people from different disciplines;
- Superior organizational skills and detail oriented to ensure accuracy and quality;
- Strong client-facing and internal communication skills;
- Adaptability and flexibility to manage deadline pressure, ambiguity and change;
- Ability to independently prioritize and manage multiple tasks/projects and meet deadlines;
- Highly developed business acumen;
- Ability to work within a global framework and a matrix organization;
- Fluent in English is required, Spanish and/or Italian is considered a plus;
- Experience working in a multicultural environment is preferred;
- Up to 35% of domestic travel and 10% of international travel;
- A valid driver’s license operable in all 50 states and Canada and a clean driving record. A clean driving records means:
- In the last 3 years, no driving-related suspension, revocation or cancellation, no disqualifying offenses, no more than 2 moving violations and no reckless driving incidents.
- In the last 5 years, no major driving offenses including DUI/DWI, refusal to test, leaving the scene, driving a commercial vehicle without a CDL, or at-fault fatal accident.
What You've Accomplished:
- Master’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent demonstrated experience;
- 15 years of Engineering and Construction experience in Power Generation, Renewable Energy, or Large Industrial Engineering and Construction facilities;
- 5 years’ experience managing personnel of a project team;
- 5 years’ experience managing projects in renewable energy.
