ENERCON’s Energy, Renewables & Environmental Services (ERES) Group provides engineering design support to industrial facilities, traditional power generation facilities (natural gas, steam, and hydro turbines), as well as alternative, renewable, and sustainable power generation facilities (waste-to-energy, solar, and hydrogen). ERES focuses on green energy solutions that achieve large-scale production with minimal environmental impacts.
Due to our continued growth, our ERES Group is seeking a Mechanical Engineer for our Tampa, FL office location.
Responsibilities (including but are not limited to)
- Generate engineering-related documents (e.g., calculations, study reports, specifications, and drawings) in accordance with client and/or ENERCON procedures, regulatory requirements, industry standards, and other company or project specifications.
- Maintain up-to-date and relevant knowledge of industry codes and standards, safety culture, and design techniques suitable to the power generation industry.
- Provide peer and technical reviews of engineering designs and engineering-related documentation produced by others.
- Build strong relationships with clients through professional interactions and communications, and through the development of quality engineering products.
- Consult with other disciplines to ensure designs are compatible with and have considered all discipline requirements.
- Travel to plant sites to interface with client personnel, and to perform walkdowns of plant structures, systems, and components related to the project work.
- Review project schedules and resources to ensure products are properly developed and projects remain within budget.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications/Skills
- B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or related field and 3 years or more of professional work experience in mechanical system design projects for industrial & utility power systems.
- Demonstrated proficiency in performing technical evaluations.
- Basic knowledge of industry and regulatory standards pertaining to the power industry.
- Basic familiarity with Computer Aided Design (CAD).
- Proficient in typical office software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, and Outlook.
- Good writing, presentation, and communication skills.
- Ability to be an individual contributor and work effectively in project teams.
- Ability and willingness to travel up to 25% of the time.
- Ability to independently traverse a ladder and steps while wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Ability to obtain EIT certification.
- Ability to obtain a Professional Engineer (PE) license in one or more states.
Employment Requirement
Ability to pass a pre-employment and random drug and alcohol screenings, ENERCON and client specific background checks, possess a valid driver’s license, and complete initial and annual motor vehicle record (MVR) checks according to company and client policies.
Must be legally eligible to work in the US without current or future sponsorship.
