Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Performs various unskilled & semi-skilled duties related to maintenance, construction, repair, and operation of pipelines, pump stations, delivery, and communications facilities, such as:
- clearing and maintaining right-of-way
- maintaining pipeline markers
- digging and backfilling ditches
- laying pipe
- cleaning and coating pipe
- repairing leaks, product salvage and clean up
- building construction, maintenance, and repair
- gauging storage tanks
- respond to One Calls
Requirements:
Education and/or Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily. The requirements for this position are listed below:
- Must be able to communicate with land owners, other contractors, and utilities in a reasonable and courteous manner.
- Must have a valid driver's license in the state of residence to operate various classes of equipment.
- Must have a good knowledge of a variety of hand and power tools and operate with them in a safe manner.
- Must have a good knowledge of pipeline locations and the location of all mainline block valves, pump stations and delivery sites.
- Must be able to operate and maintain a variety of fire extinguishers, respirators and other safety equipment.
- Must have a general understanding of the automated pump station and delivery site operation to work safely around these sites and take steps to prevent unexpected valve or other equipment actuation while working on equipment such as valves, strainers, etc.
- Must be able to work out of doors in extreme weather and perform heavy physical labor in a safe manner.
- Must meet Company requirements for progression through the Pipeliner step classification job family.
