Summary - basic function of the role

The buyer will handle the day to day purchasing of parts, tools, equipment, and services for the business. Major responsibilities of this position include processing purchase orders, communicating with suppliers, tracking orders, managing inventory, and liaising with asset team and management.

Shift: Monday - Friday; 8 - 4:30 pm or 8:30 - 5:00 pm; flexible

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Fulfil purchase requisitions from Enerpac Tool Center and HTUS Services sites as needed and in a timely manner.
  • Ensure the purchase approval process followed by requestors according to approval matrix.
  • Utilize the SharePoint site for purchase requisitions from HTUS Service sites.
  • Arrange transport of goods and track orders to ensure timely delivery.
  • Deliver a weekly purchase order report to update the team on order statuses.
  • Attend weekly meetings to manage inter-company (IC) orders.
  • Manage supplier relationships including resolving quality and supply issues, improving supplier performance, and building successful supply chain partnerships.
  • Update inventory and ensure that stock levels are kept at appropriate levels.
  • Validate invoices for all closed orders to process payment to suppliers.
  • Manage blanket purchase orders for HTUS Services sites.
  • Analyze internal purchasing processes and suggest improvements to ensure continuous improvement of the business.
  • Effectively communicate with sales team, assets team, and management.
  • Answer incoming phone calls and direct to the correct department.
  • Greet guests and contact the appropriate employee to assist them.
  • Order supplies for building, i.e. office supplies, breakroom supplies
  • Assist in coordination of onsite meetings.

Skills and Competencies

  • Must have experience working with Microsoft programs and a good working knowledge of ERP/or similar stock control systems. Oracle experience is preferred.
  • Must be a self-starter and self-motivated.
  • Ability to influence others through reasoning and communication (written and oral).
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from internal customers or members of the business community and be a strong problem solver.
  • Ability to execute on multiple tasks to deadlines.
  • Ability to effectively present information to management and public groups when required.
  • Extremely detail oriented daily work habits with excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-based, high paced, corporate environment.
  • Computer skills include knowledge of Microsoft Windows software suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.) and company business ERP system (Oracle).
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Works well independently and with a team.
  • Builds strong relationships with colleagues and vendors.
  • Learns new skills quickly.
  • Time management and organizational skills with the ability to work to strict deadlines and under pressure.
  • Self-motivated and detail oriented.

Education and Experience

Education Requirements: High school diploma or GED equivalent. Bachelor's Degree in relevant field.

Experience Requirements: Must have at least on year of experience as a buyer. Extensive knowledge of purchasing within a manufacturing environment.

Physical Demands

Employee may have to lift documents/work materials up to 30 pounds in weight. Employee will have to be able to walk/climb to a variety of primary work locations, including traveling by air/auto to remote sites. Position may require travel up to 5% of time depending on assigned projects. Employee will need to listen, understand, and speak with team members in person, telephonically, and electronically at all levels within a diverse workforce and with supported organizations. Employee is able to work in front of a personal computer and telephone for long periods of time.

Work Environment

Primary work environment is temperature-controlled office setting but may also be visiting different manufacturing facilities where following appropriate safety protocols at the location would be required. Employee will be exposed to low levels of noise in the office and elevated levels of noise on the plant floor.
