POSITION SUMMARY
We are currently seeking a Buyer to join our team in Greenville, SC. This role will play a crucial role in procuring materials, services, and components essential for projects and orders. The Buyer will collaborate closely with internal engineering, interpreting technical drawings and specifications to source raw materials, machined components, and subcontract services. This candidate’s responsibilities will also include negotiating with suppliers, managing the supplier base, and ensuring that purchases align with operational and budgetary requirements. At Engineered Products, safety is paramount, so this role demands a keen adherence to safety regulations and guidelines while maintaining product quality.
AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES
- Purchase materials, services, and components required for projects, ensuring timely delivery and quality standards.
- Collaborate with internal engineering to accurately source required materials and components.
- Negotiate with new and existing supply chain partners to secure terms and pricing agreements.
- Strategically manage the supplier base, evaluating performance against operational metrics and fostering productive relationships.
- Collaborate with engineering colleagues on supplier quality issues to ensure compliance with specifications.
- Read and understand production plans and engineering blueprints specific to the industry to inform purchasing decisions.
- Work with finance managers to ensure that orders align with company budget requirements and financial objectives.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Strong interpersonal skills and negotiation abilities to build and maintain relationships with suppliers and internal parties.
- High attention to detail to ensure accuracy in interpreting technical drawings and order specifications.
- Understanding of purchase order software platforms and proficiency in basic accounting and math.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective collaboration and reporting.
- Knowledge of industry standards and regulations related to materials procurement and supply chain management.
- Problem-solving skills to address challenges and introduce solutions to optimize procurement processes.
EDUCATION AND/OR TRAINING
- Previous experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain management preferred.
- Familiarity with engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and purchase order software platforms.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. To ensure product quality, this candidate may need to visit the production floor which contains moving mechanical parts and in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat, and humidity. Noise level may be loud at times.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This is largely a sedentary role; however, some lifting of up to 25 pounds may be required.
