Architect

Based in Pittsburgh’s East End, EngineHouse is a Design/Build company that performs thoughtful, high-quality work for local residential, commercial, and institutional clients. Our in-house wood and metal fabrication capabilities allow us to produce highly customized and detail-oriented solutions for projects ranging from furniture to new construction and everything in between. We are looking for a licensed architect to join our team, expand the range of design services the company offers, and collaborate with our construction and fabrication teams to produce future heirlooms for the city’s next generations.

Responsibilities Include:

• Leading the design process from initial concept through construction drawings for a wide range of projects including new construction, additions, residential and commercial renovations, custom casework, built-ins, and furniture. Projects are typically smaller-scale with budgets of $1 million and less.
• Working with in-house construction and fabrication teams and sub-contractors to problem-solve and ensure design goals are achieved.
• Understanding the capabilities of the company’s fabrication facilities and leveraging them to create bespoke projects that prioritize material honesty, durability, and craftsmanship.
• Working intimately with clients to understand their project goals and provide creative and thoughtful solutions.
• Producing design, construction, and fabrication drawings and specifications.
• Sourcing materials, finishes, and fixtures.

An Ideal Candidate would:

• Have an architecture license and 5 years of experience working in the built environment.
• Have excellent communication skills.
• Have a strong interest in materials & methods, craft, and details.
• Enjoy working in a dynamic and rapidly growing/evolving organization that will afford great flexibility to shape one’s position
• Enjoy working at different scales and with multiple project types rather than developing a narrow range of expertise
• Value a holistic approach to building and take pride & satisfaction in leading a project from early concept stages all the way through to completed finished product.

Pay: $35.00 - $45.00 per hour
