Job Summary:
Community Based Therapists provide a full range of therapy, case management, advocacy, psycho-social education and related services to individuals who have been directly or secondarily affected by street violence. Community Based Therapists engage their participants in their setting to ensure their safety and allow for the development of trusted and authentic working collaborations. Community Based Therapists provide trauma informed and engaged; culturally informed and sensitive; and proactive services aimed at mitigating further high-risk situations and increasing social and emotional skills.
Reports to: Director of Clinical Services
Accountable to: Director of Clinical Services
Communicates with: Violence Prevention Staff, participants, families, community partners, community stakeholders.
Informs: Little Village community
Status: Full Time
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide individual therapy and case management services to individuals aged 14 and up and their families.
- Conduct therapy and case management sessions with clients at various locations within the Little Village community.
- Performs comprehensive psycho-social assessments and works collaboratively with participants in creating service plans aimed at achieving goals, maximizing independence and accessing community resources.
- Provides group and family therapy as needed.
- Meets agency expectation for quantity of direct service
- Works with multiple agencies and systems to ensure cross collaborative partnerships
- Develops relationships with partner organizations and builds a “warm referral” network for linkages.
- Engages in various agency and community committees and events
- Maintain participant case files, including timely case notes and other documentation and enter into selected agency database
- Engage the wide scope of supports and community resources provided by the various Enlace departments and programs
- Participate in regular team, organizational, and clinical team meetings and events
- Adhere to Agency and partner policies, procedures and the professional code of ethics
- Assist with other organizational and project activities, as needed
Required Skills:
- Experience delivering individual and group services and interventions with various age groups.
- Experience working with at risk populations
- Cultural competency in effectively working with and serving people differing in value systems, ethnicity, cultural backgrounds, language capabilities, and abilities
- Comfort in representing Enlace through site visits, speaking engagements, participation in community events, and occasional media opportunities
- Solid computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, as well as database experience
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Social Work or therapy preferred (licensed or license-eligible a plus)
- At least two (2) years of experience working with adolescents, their families, and urban public schools is highly desired
- Must have daily/reliable access to transportation
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish required
- A criminal background check and verification of past employment and education is required
COMPENSATION: Salary based on experience, the annual salary range is 50,000 - 55,000; a comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, life, and short and long-term disability insurance, 403b retirement options.
