POSITION: Independent Living Specialist Float
LOCATION: St. Paul, MN
DESCRIPTION: This Independent Living Specialist Float position is an experienced Independent Living Specialist Float direct care position working directly with the individuals that receive Unit Based Services from Enriched Living. The staff in these homes are experts in independent living skills, as these services are customized to support individuals to maintain their independence in the community. The float position is designed to help fill in gaps in staffing at different programs within the company.
Similar to positions such as: Direct Support Professional, Positive Support Specialist, Mental Health Practitioner, Behavior Analyst, etc.
The Independent Living Specialist Float is responsible for:
- Consistently adheres to the principals of Positive Behavior Supports.
- Provide independent living skills support & services to the people served
- Monitor the people supported for symptoms of decompensation, crisis and medication side effects, and report concerns as they arise.
- Know and incorporate the principals from their CSSP, CSSP Addendum, SMA, IAPP and other person specific documents into daily interaction with the people served.
- Assist the people supported with problem solving different aspects of community living
- Maintain complete and professional documentation for direct service hours
- Participate in scheduled and spontaneous recreational events, medical appointments, family events, psychiatric appointments, and other activities of the person’s choice.
- Maintain confidentiality by complying with HIPAA and MN Data Privacy
- Be a reliable and professional member of the support team.
- Attend mandatory staff meetings, and other meetings requested by the DC/DM
- Maintain clear, open, and honest communication with program management.
- Be able to work with a wide variety of staff, and people receiving services.
- Must be available to work from 8:00am – 10:00pm but will receive schedule a minimum of two weeks in advance.
- Other duties as assigned.
APPLICANT EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- An associates or baccalaureate in Social Services or related field are preferred
- 3 years’ experience working with adults with disabilities, mental illness or chemical dependency preferred
- Ability to adhere to professional documentation standards.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from medical professionals, management, staff, people served, and regulatory authorities
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret general human services periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations.
