Maintenance Manager

Summary

At Ensinger, Inc we’re looking for a skilled and forward-thinking Maintenance Manager to join our growing team as we work to become one of the largest high performance engineered plastics manufacturing companies. The Maintenance Manager ensures the proper care and maintenance of the facility’s equipment, structure, and grounds. This position works with internal maintenance personnel, outside contractors, and vendors to cost effectively maintain a safe and productive environment. The Maintenance Manager develops the vision for the future of the maintenance department and executes the plans for improvement.

Ensinger processes high performance engineering plastics in our North American headquarters located in Washington, PA and four additional US production facilities. Globally, the Ensinger Group is engaged in the development, manufacture and sale of compounds, semi-finished materials, composites, technical parts, and profiles made of engineering and high-performance plastics. With a total of 2,700 employees at 35 locations, the family-owned enterprise is represented worldwide in all major industrial regions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Promote a strong safety culture and demonstrate a zero tolerance for non-compliance with safety work practices, policies, and regulations.
  • Ensure effective employee relations. Evaluate employees and provide regular coaching and development. Make employment decisions including hiring, orienting, and training of Maintenance Technicians to ensure a competent workforce. Resolve employee issues through problem resolution. Recognize good performers and take corrective action when needed.
  • Ensure new Maintenance Technicians are properly trained in job duties, safety policies, and company procedures. Keep all Maintenance Technicians current on required technical and safety trainings from internal and external training resources. ·
  • Promote and enforce the highest standard for level of quality and safety in work performed by Maintenance Technicians. Audit completed work for quality, completeness, and conformance and provide coaching to Technicians as needed.
  • Manage departmental performance measures, including visual controls, and provide regular progress reports to management on departmental KPI performance and countermeasures. The performance metrics includes OEE, PM on time compliance, equipment downtime and breakdown history, departmental budget, and workforce utilization.
  • Develop, monitor, and ensure adherence to maintenance Standard Operating Procedures and Work Instructions in all activities and operations. Ensure SOP’s and WI’s are of sufficient detail for technical content, accuracy, completeness, and flow. Audit and review documented procedures as necessary.
  • Support and monitor continuous improvement projects, utilizing lean principles.
  • Develop and plan Preventative Maintenance of equipment, including FMEA’s, and coordinate with Production and Maintenance teams to complete PM’s on time.
  • Regularly evaluate PM effectiveness and oversee PM procedures and schedule in CMMS.
  • Maintain engineering drawings and technical information on equipment in CMMS software. Ensure all assets and spare parts are fully documented and inventoried within CMMS.
  • Research, economically source, and requisition tools, equipment, and supplies needed to complete maintenance work on time. Confer with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts, and evaluate products according to specifications and quality standards.
  • Maintain a list of approved contractors for all common external trade work.
  • Analyze and plan work force utilization, space requirements, and workflow of new equipment. Design layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.
  • Plan and execute capital equipment budgeting and procurement. Research, plan, and design mechanical and electromechanical equipment. Direct and coordinate activities involved in fabrication, operation, application, and installation. Ensure that projects are accomplished within the prescribed timeframe and funding parameters.
  • Install and troubleshoot automation equipment including PLC’s and VFD’s throughout Production operations.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field or equivalent experience
  • 5 years of multi-skill maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment
  • 3 years of prior manager/supervision experience
  • Knowledge of workplace safety (OSHA 10-hour certification preferred)
  • Ability to utilize problem solving tools such as CI, Kaizen, Lean, 5S, 6 sigma, etc.
  • Possess strong oral and written communication skills
  • Must have good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and Outlook)
  • Experience with ERP systems. Syteline experience a plus
  • Experience with CMMS systems
  • Working knowledge of PLC’s, VFD’s, and other automation equipment
  • Excellent knowledge of the principles of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems
  • Ability to read CAD drawings, PLC logic, and Electrical schematics

Physical Demands

  • Must be able to independently lift/move up to 70 lbs.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, bend, squat, kneel, crouch or crawl on a frequent to continual basis in a production environment.
  • Reach above shoulder level frequently.
  • Must be able to work while wearing appropriate PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) for the job (such as steel-toed protective footwear, harness, safety glasses, hard hat, gloves, protective clothing, etc.)

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: Up to $100,000.00 per year
