We seek a motivated, adaptable and bright individual to partner across the organization to support efforts that span corporate strategy, R&D strategy, external innovation, investor relations , and competitive surveillance. The successful candidate will be a scientifically and intellectually curious self-starter with a quantitative background and first-rate analytical and communication skills. This position reports directly to the Chief Business Officer and offers a unique opportunity to gain first-hand strategic and operating experience via engagement with the Executive Team. Responsibilities:
  • Investigate and report on scientific and medical topics to inform strategy, shape corporate positioning and support informed decision-making via review of scientific literature, company presentations, SEC or regulatory filings, KOL/stakeholder interviews, patents or other custom analyses
  • Monitor and analyze industry trends, competitive threats and platform or pipeline expansion opportunities
  • Spearhead search and evaluation efforts to identify areas of growth and potential collaboration opportunities with biotech and pharmaceutical companies, academic institutions, non-profit research or patient organizations
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop scientific and business rationale for licensing or partnership opportunities, conduct due diligence and present recommendations to senior leadership
  • Conduct strategic reviews of unmet needs and business opportunity for disease areas under consideration, including treatment paradigm, market size, competitive and payer landscapes, utilizing literature review, market research and other key data sources
  • Develop business case analyses for new growth initiatives and provide analytical support to inform pipeline strategy and prioritization
  • Work with R&D leadership and program teams to support engagement with Ensoma SAB and KOLs to understand unmet medical needs and scientific rationale
  • Organize preparation and debrief meetings of key scientific conferences to ensure pertinent information regarding advances in the field are obtained and shared across the organization
  • Maintain key scientific and technical Q&A utilized to articulate portfolio strategy, therapeutic approach, and platform development to investors and external stakeholders
  • Generate materials and slide decks for internal meetings, partnering conferences and investor engagement
  • Support special projects as assigned
Qualifications:
Required:
  • A Ph.D. and/or M.D. with at least one year of relevant experience, ideally within the biotech or pharmaceutical industries, life sciences consulting, venture capital or investment banking
  • Deep knowledge and understanding of biology with proficiency in distilling complex scientific information from multiple sources into digestible and actionable analysis
  • Strong written and oral presentation skills enabling engagement with a wide range of audiences
  • A collaborative and strategic mindset, evidenced by an ability to coordinate cross-functionally in a tactful and well thought-out manner
Preferred:
  • Proven experience in indication selection, portfolio strategy, or R&D strategy
