JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE
This position provides strategic leadership, direction and management of the safety coaching, mentoring, and project management programs for the Distribution Operations organization. The position serves as a resource and support for Utility Operations on safety strategy and governance.
JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Serves as a key member of the Distribution Operations safety lead team providing leadership and support of the organization in the management and development of safety strategy and project management.
- Provides guidance and program oversight to enhance safety leadership skills which may include safety training programs, presentations, workshops/conferences, safety communications, policies and overall guidance to build and enhance a strong safety first culture.
- Works closely with various leaders and safety personnel to ensure effective implementation of safety programs and the creation of new programs from analyzing injury, audit, observation and assessment information
- Works to ensure that all personnel at all locations and levels have the necessary understanding and training to remain in compliance with Entergy's safety policies and processes. Ensures that employees receive safety training applicable to their work processes; seeks to understand root cause of repeated behaviors and coaches’ employees on safety awareness.
- Serve as liaison to help develop, support and implement approved Enterprise Safety initiatives;
- Evaluate, assess and alter safety procedures and policies for the benefit of employees and contractors;
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education required of the position
Preferred Technical degree or Bachelor’s degree, preferably in the area of Safety, Health, and/or Environmental or equivalent work experience
Experience required of the position
Minimum of 7 years relevant experience.
Preferred: 7 years experience in line organization. Minimum 4 years of supervisory/managerial/leadership experience.
Preferred: 4 years of supervision of lineman and front-line employees.
Desired/preferred qualifications: Responsibility for safety performance at operating and/or construction sites, goal setting and establishment of a safety culture. History of successful safety-related interventions and/or initiatives that have resulted in an overall reduction of safety-related risk. Experience in coaching, mentoring and leading front line employees.
Skills and abilities required of the position
Extensive knowledge of safe work rules and applications.
Excellent leadership skills and capabilities in safety leadership and distribution line (or gas), construction, operations and maintenance knowledge.
Ability to motivate and lead front line employees.
Ability to work well under pressure. Ability to recognize opportunities for process improvement and have the ability to enact change.
Prefer candidate who has strong relationships with utility front line employees and ability to influence behaviors.
The ability to travel primarily across the region with 20-25% overnight travel.

Working Conditions
Works in remote locations, field operations and/or construction sites. As a provider of essential services, Entergy expects its employees to be available to work additional hours, to work in alternate locations, and/or to perform additional duties in connection with storms, outages, emergencies, or other situations as deemed necessary by the company. Exempt employees may not be paid overtime associated with such duties
