What You'll Do:
We are currently looking for a Finance Cooperative Student to join our team! The ideal candidate will have advanced skills in MS Excel and be very comfortable working with new software applications. The successful candidate must bring with them the abilities to learn quickly on the job, ask probing questions and communicate their grasp of multi-stepped instructions. The student will be immersed in fast-paced, daily finance and accounting tasks with hands-on training by seasoned staff who are welcoming to questions and providing assistance. A sense of urgency, drive and initiative, and the self-motivation to succeed in a dynamic public company business environment are essential, as the position assumes multiple, deadline driven, direct responsibilities to be conducted independently.
Primary responsibilities are related to the budget process, administration and reporting (working with various departments and levels of management in preparing and reporting both the operating and project request budget) and budget vs actual analysis (researching, documenting, and analyzing data)
Other responsibilities include:
- Assisting the Shareholder Services and Investor Relations team with the following:
- year-end tax reporting for team members and Directors
- Quarterly update of IR presentation
- Other daily/monthly activities as needed such as Board reports, SEC Section 16 filings, user access reviews, downloading daily option exercise, responding to stockholder inquiries, monthly reconciliations for shares outstanding, stock options and restricted stock, and running and reporting transaction information for Accounting.
- Assisting the Finance Team with the following:
- Monthly ALM imports
- Public peer bank stock analysis
- Board report preparation (ALM, bank stocks and shareholder services reporting)
- Profitability reporting
- Summarizing economic forecast data
- Other projects and activities as needed including implementation of new software tools, investment trade setup, interest rate swap reconciliations
- May assist the Accounting Team with the following:
- General ledger (G/L) maintenance, including: new G/L account setup and maintenance; daily G/L balancing; G/L integration specification changes and posting/documenting G/L entries
- Support accounts payable, fixed assets and prepaid assets functions
- Other daily/monthly activities as needed
This position starts January 2024 and ends June 2024 and is hybrid. Candidates from MA, NH, and ME only. The hours are Monday - Friday 8:30am - 5:00pm.
Requirements: Sophomore, Junior, or Senior year students participating in the Cooperative Program. Previous related work experience helpful but not required.
