The Entertainment Community Fund (formerly The Actors Fund), a nationwide human services organization that helps all professionals in performing arts and entertainment, seeks a Social Worker for the Seniors program. This position works with older adults in the performing arts and entertainment industry, providing clinical case management services, groups, and supportive counseling for seniors, their families, and significant others to help navigate the personal and health-related challenges of aging. With a clinical assessment focus, the position processes financial assistance grants for senior clients. This is currently a hybrid position with a requirement of working 2 days per week in the Los Angeles office.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Social Worker, Senior Services will engage and work collaboratively with individual clients and their families of choice in a clinical process that facilitates development of assessments and treatment plans, identifying strengths, needs, and gaps in services. Provide intensive clinical case management, evaluating and advocating for financial assistance, as well as serving as a liaison to internal and external resources on behalf of the client.

Develop and facilitate support groups, social functions, panel presentations and seminars, which address the emotional, social, and health-related needs particular to the senior community. Responsibility to conduct visits with clients, at home, in the hospital, nursing home, and assisted living facilities, as needed, to provide emotional support and to ensure safety and continuity of care. Perform mental health assessments and crisis intervention. Provide supportive counseling to clients and families as part of the therapeutic process to achieve identified treatment goals and outcomes.

Identify resources specific to the senior population: legal issues such as estate planning, health care proxies, durable power of attorney, advance directives and living wills, and housing. Participate in outreach to the performing arts and entertainment community, by assisting with facilitation of groups, seminars or trainings, as representative of the agency. Collaborate and advocate with unions, industry management, entertainment industry charities and community organizations to facilitate case plans and eligibility for assistance with other funding resources.

Maintain all paper work and statistics pertinent to client caseload. In the event of entertainment industry crisis or a natural disaster, support all social work departments with Fund financial assistance to performing arts community. Provide back-up and coverage for all agency social services programs on an as-needed basis.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s in Social Work from an accredited school of social work; licensure optional.
  • Experience working with the older adult population required
  • Commitment to cultural humility and anti-racist practice
  • Working knowledge of benefits such as Medicare, MediCal, IHSS, CalFresh, Etc.
  • Adherence and compliance with NASW Code of Ethics.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, flexible work style; able to handle diverse tasks in fast-paced, high volume environment
  • Availability to assist in agency-wide outreach to the entertainment community to provide information about Entertainment Community Fund services
  • Valid, unrevoked driver’s license and access to a vehicle are necessary
  • May work evening hours and weekends, as needed by department
PREFERRED QUALITIES

  • Entertainment industry experience a plus.
  • Ability to consistently convey a sense of empathy with clients and demonstrate solid clinical judgment. Must demonstrate the willingness to be self-reflective and engaged within the individual and group clinical supervision process, in order to understand counter-transference and enhance clinical practice
  • Strong command of bio/psycho/social assessment
ABOUT THIS POSITION

This is a full-time salaried position based in the Entertainment Community Fund’s Western Region offices in Mid-Wilshire, Los Angeles. COMPENSATION
Compensation is commensurate with licensure type and years of experience. The salary range for candidates who hold an MSW is between $65,000 - $69,165. The salary range for candidates who hold an LCSW is between $72,468 - $74,165. Internships, volunteer work, and gaps in employment will not be counted towards years of experience.
