Overview
Job Purpose:
The Buyer II is responsible for managing and facilitating sytem and non-system generated request for goods and services in accordance with departmental, company and regulatory requirements. In addition to processing and reviewing goods and services request, the position will strive to increase utilization of preferred suppliers, educate internal customers and vendors on company purchasing requirements and provide ongoing support and/or development of category strategies.
This position requires keen analytical, interpersonal and negotiation skills with the ability to develop a compelling business case that influences Inotiv leaders, internal customers, stakeholders and functional team members to take action.
Responsibilities
This job contributes to organizational success by:
- Work with internal customers on developing goods & service specifications to ensure best quality product at best total cost of ownership. Performs all activities in full compliance with company and departmental policies and procedures.
- Support Category Manager in development and implementation of category strategy.
- Develop and implement strategies for assigned sub-categories that align with overarching category strategy and support current and future business needs .
- Analyze spend, assess market and industry conditions & other factors to optimize company supply chain performance & efficiency.
- Leads periodic category and project reviews that inform leadership of strategic considerations and recommendations that benefit the organization with immediate, mid-term and long term affect.
- Ensure process compliance and address compliance concerns externally and internally for both inventory and non-inventory items.
- Review and analyze purchase requisitions to ensure competitive pricing and preferred supplier selection, where applicable, to maximize value of Inotiv goods & services purchased.
- Consolidate requirements and develop most suitable method of purchase where applicable.
- Conduct Procurement activities in accordance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws.
- Communicate company requirements to suppliers and potential suppliers.
- Leads sourcing & supply chain optimization efforts including, but not limited to; contract management, working capital improvement, supplier optimization/reduction, benchmarking, supplier performance management and key performance indicator developmenton behalf of the organization.
- Foster and sustain productive and postive working relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- Acquire and provide information to internal customers regarding suppliers, orders, specifications, delivery dates, etc.
- Identify, achieve and document cost savings.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Supply Chain or Science, or relevant work experience
- At least three years experience in a similar role
- At least one year of experience with Information Technolgoy (IT), Human Resource, and Marketing sourcing
- Advanced Microsoft Office Skills
- Highly Motivated; Results-Oriented Work Ethic with Ability to Work Autonomously
- Excellent Project Management Skills
- Strong Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills – Quantitative, Business Process Flow, etc.
- Experience with sourcing projects including supplier identification, conducting, and analyzing RFx, supplier selection and program execution.
- Effective Time Management and Organizational Skills
- Clear and Concise Communication Skills – Oral and Written
- Ability to thrive in a global matrix and cross-functional team environment with internal customers and suppliers.
- JD Edwards or other ERP systems experience preferred
- Supplier Diversity experience/training is a plus
