We are seeking an Animal Care Technician to join our dynamic team! This position will focus on overall animal care and welfare, production and selection for customer orders, facility upkeep and recordkeeping and procedural duties. The person in this role will need to feel passionate about working with animals, enjoy and excel at organization, and support and maintain a clean, safe and compliant working environment. We are seeking someone that is hardworking, shows attention to detail, takes initiative, has a teamwork mentality and positive attitude.

Primary ways the Animal Care Technician will contribute to the Envigo team:

  • Follow detailed procedures as directed by Standard Operating Procedures and/or Customer Specifications.
  • Follow personal flow restrictions for animal environments.
  • Perform general care for animals including feeding, watering and cage changing in controlled environments.
  • Perform animal procedures such as weighting, injections and blood collections.
  • Accurately record, calculate and maintain detailed records for individual productions.
  • Maintain a work area that is organized, well stocked and safe for everyone.
  • Clean and disinfect rooms and equipment.
  • Perform general housekeeping functions.
  • Communicate with Group Leader and/or Supervisor when any deviations from established procedures or routines occurs.

We are looking for the following from the Animal Care Technician:

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Animal science background a plus.
  • Manual dexterity to perform procedures on laboratory rats and mice.

This position requires that the Animal Care Technician be able to:

  • Ability to stand for long periods of time and lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks efficiently and in a timely manner.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written procedures, be observant and pay attention to details.
  • Ability to accurately complete records in compliance with Federal cGMP guidelines.
  • Ability to work as an effective team member.
  • Must be dependable, punctual and available for weekends and overtime as needed.
  • Avoid contact with rodent species outside of work.
  • Ability to communicate (written and verbally) in English
